Appeal:
"to call upon," has the meaning "appeal" in the Middle Voice, which carries with it the suggestion of a special interest on the part of the doer of an action in that in which he is engaged. Stephen died "calling upon the Lord," Act 7:59. In the more strictly legal sense the word is used only of Paul's "appeal" to Caesar, Act 25:11, 12, 21, 25; 26:32; 28:19.
See CALL (upon), SURNAME. See also eperotema, under ANSWER, A, No. 4, Note.
The Blue Letter Bible ministry and the BLB Institute hold to the historical, conservative Christian faith, which includes a firm belief in the inerrancy of Scripture. Since the text and audio content provided by BLB represent a range of evangelical traditions, all of the ideas and principles conveyed in the resource materials are not necessarily affirmed, in total, by this ministry.
