Banded:
Act 23:12, of the Jews who "banded together" with the intention of killing Paul, consists of the verb poieo, "to make," and the noun sustrophe, primarily "a twisting up together, a binding together;" then, "a secret combination, a conspiracy." Accordingly it might be translated "made a conspiracy." The noun is used elsewhere in Act 19:40.
See CONCOURSE.
The Blue Letter Bible ministry and the BLB Institute hold to the historical, conservative Christian faith, which includes a firm belief in the inerrancy of Scripture. Since the text and audio content provided by BLB represent a range of evangelical traditions, all of the ideas and principles conveyed in the resource materials are not necessarily affirmed, in total, by this ministry.
