Decrease (Verb):
signifies "to make less or inferior, in quality, position or dignity;" "madest... lower" and "hast made... lower," in Hbr 2:7, 9. In Jhn 3:30, it is used in the Middle Voice, in John the Baptist's "I must decrease," indicating the special interest he had in his own "decrease," i.e., in authority and popularity.
See LOWER.
The Blue Letter Bible ministry and the BLB Institute hold to the historical, conservative Christian faith, which includes a firm belief in the inerrancy of Scripture. Since the text and audio content provided by BLB represent a range of evangelical traditions, all of the ideas and principles conveyed in the resource materials are not necessarily affirmed, in total, by this ministry.
