A-1 | Noun | Strong's Number: g4009 | Greek: peras |
Final, Finally:
"a limit, end," is translated "final" in Hbr 6:16, RV, "an oath is final for confirmation" (the AV connects the clauses differently).
See END.
A-2 | Noun | Strong's Number: g5056 | Greek: telos |
Final, Finally:
"an end," most frequently of the termination of something, is used with the article adverbially, meaning "finally" or "as to the end," i.e., as to the last detail, 1Pe 3:8.
See END.
B-1 | Adverb | Strong's Number: g3063 | Greek: loipon |
Final, Finally:
is the neuter of the adjective loipos, remaining (which is used in its different genders as a noun, "the rest"), and is used either with the article or without, to signify "finally," lit., "for the rest." The Apostle Paul uses it frequently in the concluding portion of his epistles, introducing practical exhortations, not necessarily implying that the letter is drawing to a close, but marking a transition in the subject-matter, as in Phl 3:1, where the actual conclusion is for the time postponed and the farewell injunctions are resumed in Phl 4:8. See also 1Th 4:1 (AV, "furthermore"); 2Th 3:1.
The Blue Letter Bible ministry and the BLB Institute hold to the historical, conservative Christian faith, which includes a firm belief in the inerrancy of Scripture. Since the text and audio content provided by BLB represent a range of evangelical traditions, all of the ideas and principles conveyed in the resource materials are not necessarily affirmed, in total, by this ministry.
