The word is always rendered "food" in the RV, where the AV has "meat;" e.g., Mat 3:4; 6:25; 10:10; 24:45; Luk 12:23; Jhn 4:8; Act 2:46, "did take their food," RV (AV, "did eat their meat"); Act 9:19, "took food;" Act 27:33, 34, 36. The AV also has "food" in Act 14:17; Jam 2:15.

"eating, the act of eating" (akin to bibrosko, "to eat") is translated "food" in 2Cr 9:10.
See EATING, MEAT, RUST.

akin to No. 3, frequently translated "meat," and always so in the AV except in Mat 14:15, "victuals," is rendered "food" in the RV in Mat 14:15; Luk 3:11; 9:13.

Note: For asitia, "without food," see ABSTINENCE.
