Immutable, Immutability:
an adjective signifying "immutable" (a, negative, metatithemi, "to change"), Hbr 6:18, where the "two immutable things" are the promise and the oath. In Hbr 6:17 the word is used in the neuter with the article, as a noun, denoting "the immutability," with reference to God's counsel. Examples from the papyri show that the word was used as a technical term in connection with wills, "The connotation adds considerably to the force of Hbr 6:17 (and foll.)" (Moulton and Milligan).
The Blue Letter Bible ministry and the BLB Institute hold to the historical, conservative Christian faith, which includes a firm belief in the inerrancy of Scripture. Since the text and audio content provided by BLB represent a range of evangelical traditions, all of the ideas and principles conveyed in the resource materials are not necessarily affirmed, in total, by this ministry.
