Vine's Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words
1 Strong's Number: g753 Greek: architekton

Masterbuilder:

from arche, "rule, beginning," and tekton, "an artificer" (whence Eng., "architect"), "a principal artificer," is used figuratively by the Apostle in 1Cr 3:10, of his work in laying the foundation of the local church in Corinth, inasmuch as the inception of the spiritual work there devolved upon him. The examples from the papyri and from inscriptions, as illustrated by Moulton and Milligan, show that the word had a wider application than our "architect," and confirm the rendering "masterbuilder" in this passage, which is of course borne out by the context.
