Renounce:
lit., "to tell from" (apo, "from," eipon, an aorist form used to supply parts of lego, "to say"), signifies "to renounce," 2Cr 4:2 (Middle Voice), of disowning "the hidden things of shame." In the Sept. of 1Ki 11:2 it signifies "to forbid," a meaning found in the papyri. The meaning "to renounce" may therefore carry with it the thought of forbidding the approach of the things disowned.

The Blue Letter Bible ministry and the BLB Institute hold to the historical, conservative Christian faith, which includes a firm belief in the inerrancy of Scripture. Since the text and audio content provided by BLB represent a range of evangelical traditions, all of the ideas and principles conveyed in the resource materials are not necessarily affirmed, in total, by this ministry.
