C. The halting multitude (between two opinions, undecided...)
D. Times have changed, but still three groups.
1. Servants of God.
2. Servants of Sin.
3. Halting multitude.
"How long halt ye between two opinions?" The man who turns himself completely to sin & pollution of his own heart is far less damaging than the man who halts between two to the community.
II. PROPHETS OF BAAL OFFER POINTS FOR ADMIRATION, SARCASM, ANGER, PITY.
A. Admiration.
1. Bravery.
2. Persistence.
3. Devotion.
B. Sarcasm.
1. Your gods cannot help in crisis.
2. Call on sin to comfort & aid.
C. Anger - willfulness of their folly.
1. God had revealed Himself amply to these people.
2. They knew God but turned to Baal. Baal gave license to their passionate desires.
3. Pity - the ruined lives.
a. Put passion of your life to destroying yourself.
b. The service of sin so unrewarding - so empty so damning.
III. THE PROPHET OF GOD.
A. Boldness.
B. Calmness & strength.
1. Reason for calmness & strength vs 36.
C. I have chosen for God, I will be a Christian, I would know the fellowship. How long halt ye, how long?
Recognizing the value of consistent reflection upon the Word of God in order to refocus one's mind and heart upon Christ and His Gospel of peace, we provide several reading plans designed to cover the entire Bible in a year.
The Blue Letter Bible ministry and the BLB Institute hold to the historical,
conservative Christian faith, which includes a firm belief in the inerrancy
of Scripture. Since the text and audio content provided by BLB represent a
range of evangelical traditions, all of the ideas and principles conveyed
in the resource materials are not necessarily affirmed, in total, by this ministry.
