摩西继续写他在申命记 33:1 开始的祝福以色列的诗篇。在这简短的部分中，摩西向但支派宣告祝福（第 22 节）。但支派是雅各和拉结的使女辟拉的儿子。当辟拉生下一个儿子时，拉结说：“‘神为我伸冤，听了我的声音，赐给我一个儿子。’因此她给他起名叫但”（创世记 30:1-6），意思是“审判”。
