为了支撑竖板，总监比撒列用皂荚木做闩 (当代译本修订本和新译本译为 "横闩")。这 "闩" 是用来支撑作帐幕墙之竖板的横杆。皂荚木非常紧密，因此非常结实，可以用作帐幕的框架。他们为帐幕这面的板做五闩，为帐幕那面的板做五闩，又为帐幕后面的板做五闩，总共十五个闩。为了增加支撑力，比撒列做了板腰间的中闩从这一头通到那一头。
因板、杆/杠和环都是用在圣所的，所以他用金子将板包裹，又做板上的金环套闩；闩也用金子包裹。
