亚伯兰的祖父和兄弟都叫拿鹤。在美索不达米亚西北部，哈兰附近有一座名为拿鹤的城市。祖父拿鹤活了 138 年，比他的父亲西鹿（230 岁）或儿子他拉（205 岁）的寿命短得多。以撒的妻子、以扫和雅各的母亲利百加来自“拿鹤城”（创世记 24:10），是拿鹤的孙女（创世记 22:23）。这个城镇的名字可能与拿鹤有关。
亚述文献提到了一个地名Til (ša) Turaḫi ，位于巴利克河上，距离哈兰和拿鹤不远。这个名字可能与他拉有关。他拉成为父亲的年龄（七十岁）比他的前辈要晚得多，他们的前辈三十出头就当上了父亲。
