七天后，诺亚再次将鸽子从方舟放出，这次鸽子带回了一片新摘的橄榄叶。橄榄叶（生命的象征）是生命将延续、一切都会好起来的第一个迹象。新生的地球将再次像最初一样支持生命。现在，诺亚知道洪水已经从地球上退去。诺亚又等了七天，然后放出了第三只鸽子，但它没有再回到他身边，大概是因为它已经在地球上安家了。
