耶稣警告那些滥用属灵权威谋取私利的人，他们将遭受更严厉的审判，并教导我们，上帝的鉴察直指人心。如同耶稣谴责虚伪的其他经文（参见马太福音23章）一样，这一刻提醒基督的追随者要爱护和保护那些无助的人，将怜悯之心融入祷告和行动之中。
