谨言慎行是自制和明辨是非的标志。智者懂得何时沉默胜于喧嚣。雅各书3章也阐述了这一观点，指出舌头虽小，却能左右人心，也能造成毁灭。在上帝的世界里，智慧体现在言语的克制上。
