箴言10:29，所罗门写道： “耶和华的道是正直人的保障，却是作恶者的毁灭。”（29节）上帝的道路不仅是衡量人类行为的标准，也是那些行在其中之人的避难所。
对于正直的人来说，耶和华的道是坚固的保障。它提供保护、稳定和道德上的清晰指引。按照神的旨意生活的人，并非随心所欲地创造现实；相反，他们生活在值得信赖的事物之中。这本身就成为了一种庇护。
但同样的道理也适用于作恶之人，因为神的秩序抵挡邪恶。保护正直人的，必将揭露恶人。区别不在于神的旨意是否前后矛盾，而在于人心的态度。行耶和华之道的人必得生命，而与耶和华之道相悖的人必受审判。
