箴言11:13中，所罗门写道： “到处搬弄是非的，泄露秘密；诚实的，隐瞒真相。” （第13节）搬弄是非的人为了私利而散播信息。闲言碎语并非中立的分享；它往往是出于伤害、好奇或自负的目的而滥用真相。

相反，值得信赖的人会隐瞒一些事情。这并非指掩盖应该被揭露的罪恶，而是指守护应该守护的事物。爱与智慧懂得何时沉默才是忠诚的体现。可靠的人会成为他人的避风港。
