箴言11章3节，所罗门写道： “正直人的纯全必引导自己；奸诈人的弯曲必毁灭自己。” （第3节）正直如同内在的指南针，使人行在正道上，因为它将人的心与真理紧紧相连。
正直之人以正直为指引，因为他们无需不断伪装，他们的品格本身就指引着他们。他们无需无休止的计谋来保护自己，因为他们在上帝面前坦诚相待。正直并不能消除所有困难，但它确实能带来清晰的指引。
然而，奸诈之人的诡诈终将自取灭亡。奸诈总是扭曲原本笔直的事物，久而久之，这种扭曲便会导致崩溃。这节经文再次表明，罪恶本身就蕴含着毁灭。短期内看似聪明的做法，最终却会招致毁灭。
