与她过去的行为一致，路得把她自己交给波阿斯照顾，并且完全按照他所指示的去做。她躺在他的脚边直到天快亮。显然路得在此刻穿插了自己的智慧。正当黎明来临前天快亮时，她在人彼此不能辨认的时候就起来了。这样她就可以离开那个区域而不被发现。然后，波阿斯就路得的事指示他的仆人，说，"不可使人知道有女子到场上来。"

然后路得回到拿俄米那里，向她汇报，告诉拿俄米那人向她所行的。拿俄米再次对波阿斯做了一个会成真的预测。她显然是一个敏锐的观察者，并且能够根据她观察到的模式来预测人们的行为。拿俄米指示路得："女儿啊，你只管安坐等候，看这事怎样成就，因为那人今日不办成这事必不休息。"尽管路得继续被推到她必须相信其他人却不知道结果如何的境况中，但她再次顺服地等待着。
