In Proverbs 10:6, Solomon writes, Blessings are on the head of the righteous, but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence (v. 6). The righteous are pictured as those upon whom blessing rests openly and fittingly. Their lives are aligned with God’s ways, and that alignment becomes a place where His favor can rest.
The image of blessings being on the head suggests something visible and bestowed. The righteous do not seize true blessing by force; they receive it from God as the fruit of walking in wisdom. This does not mean they live free of difficulty, but it does mean their lives are marked by God’s approval and the stability that comes from living within His design.
The wicked are different because their mouths conceal violence. Their speech may not immediately sound harsh, but beneath it lies harm, deceit, or destructive intent. Wickedness often hides behind respectable words. Jesus later teaches that what comes out of a person’s mouth reveals the heart (Matthew 12:34), and Solomon is making that same point here.
