The Bible Says
Proverbs 13:6 Meaning

In Proverbs 13:6, Solomon says, Righteousness guards the one whose way is blameless, but wickedness subverts the sinner (v. 6). Righteousness is again pictured as protective. It guards because it keeps a person within the boundaries of God’s design.

The blameless person is not sinless, but sincere and upright in his direction. His life is guarded by righteousness because wisdom preserves him from many self-created traps. Living according to truth provides a kind of moral shelter.

By contrast, wickedness subverts the sinner. Sin does not only bring trouble from the outside; it destabilizes from within. It undermines judgment, twists perception, and turns a person against his own best interest. What seems like freedom becomes sabotage.
