The Bible Says
Proverbs 14:14 Meaning

The contrast presented in Proverbs 14:14 by Solomon reveals that, The backslider in heart will have his fill of his own ways, but a good man will be satisfied with his (v. 14). This proverb shows that both faithfulness and unfaithfulness eventually yield a harvest.

The backslider in heart turns inwardly away from wisdom before the outward consequences fully appear. Solomon says he will have his fill of his own ways. That means he will taste the results of the path he has chosen. Sin eventually feeds a person the fruit of its own course.

The good man, however, will be satisfied with his. Goodness also bears fruit, but its fruit is satisfying rather than corrosive. This proverb reminds us that our inward direction matters profoundly, because the heart determines the road we travel and the harvest we receive.
