The discernment highlighted in Proverbs 14:15 reveals that The naive believes everything, but the sensible man considers his steps (v. 15). Naivete is not innocence alone, but gullibility. It receives without discernment.
The naive person believes everything because he has not learned to test, evaluate, and weigh. He is open in a way that lacks wisdom. This makes him vulnerable to deception, manipulation, and bad judgment.
The sensible man, by contrast, considers his steps. He thinks carefully about direction and consequence. Wisdom is deliberate, it does not rush simply because something sounds convincing. It examines the path before walking it.
