The contrast presented in Proverbs 14:24 by Solomon reveals that The crown of the wise is their riches, but the folly of fools is foolishness (v. 24). Wisdom produces wealth of some kind, and that abundance becomes like a crown.
The riches of the wise may include material provision, but also the broader wealth of understanding, stability, and fruitfulness. Wisdom tends to add substantive blessing to life. That blessing is called a crown because it visibly honors the one who walks wisely.
But the folly of fools is foolishness. Fools do not transform their condition into something better. What they produce is merely more of the same. Their path compounds folly rather than converting it into gain. This is the tragic stagnation of foolish living.
