Para fornecer suporte aos painéis, Bezalel, o principal artesão, fez barras de madeira de acácia. As barras serviam como travessões que sustentavam os painéis que formavam as paredes do tabernáculo. A madeira de acácia era muito densa e, portanto, suficientemente resistente para ser utilizada na estrutura do tabernáculo. Eles fizeram cinco barras para os painéis de um lado do tabernáculo, cinco barras para os painéis do outro lado do tabernáculo e cinco barras para os painéis do tabernáculo na parte traseira, a oeste, totalizando quinze barras.
