Agora que o incidente com Miriã e Arão havia terminado, o povo saiu de Hazerote e acampou no deserto de Parã (v. 16). A localização precisa de Hazerote é desconhecida, mas pode ter sido uma curta distância a nordeste do Monte Sinai. O deserto de Parã é um grande planalto localizado no lado nordeste da Península do Sinai entre o monte e a fronteira sul de Canaã. O destino dos israelitas era Cades, que ficava no lado norte do deserto de Parã (ver Números 13:26).
