Em Provérbios 11:10, Salomão diz: Quando os justos são felizes, exulta a cidade; e, quando perecem os perversos, há júbilo (v. 10). Este provérbio direciona a mensagem do indivíduo para o bem comum. A justiça abençoa não apenas a vida privada, mas também a comunidade em geral.
Uma cidade se alegra quando os justos prosperam, porque as pessoas justas tendem a governar, falar e agir de maneiras que beneficiam os outros. Seu florescimento muitas vezes cria paz, justiça, estabilidade e oportunidades que vão além de seus próprios interesses, a sabedoria tem efeitos comunitários.
Da mesma forma, quando os perversos perecem, há júbilo porque a opressão, o engano e a desordem são removidos. Isso não é uma celebração da crueldade, mas um alívio pelo fim da influência destrutiva. Provérbios reconhece que o mal pesa sobre as comunidades e que sua remoção pode ser uma misericórdia para muitos.
