Eastburn’s father was a a New York bookseller, and his brother the bishop of Massachusetts. The family moved to New York in 1803, and James was educated at Columbia College, graduating in 1816. Taking Holy Orders in 1818, he became rector at Accomac, Virginia, where his “abundant and successful” labors were cut short by an early death. Eastburn’s works include:
