Born: June 5, 1807, Leeds, England.
Died: March 25, 1889.
Rawson practiced for many years as a solicitor in Leeds. In 1853, he helped the Congregational ministers of Leeds compile Psalms, Hymns, and Passages of Scripture for Christian Worship (commonly known as the Leeds Hymn-book). In 1858, he assisted Dr. Green and other Baptist ministers in preparing Psalms and Hymns for the Use of the Baptist Denomination. In 1876 he published his Hymns, Verses and Chants (London: Hodder and Stoughton), including his previously published hymns, (exclusive of chants) 80 original pieces. In 1885, most of these, with several additional hymns, were published by the R. T. S. under the title Songs of Spiritual Thought.

The Blue Letter Bible ministry and the BLB Institute hold to the historical, conservative Christian faith, which includes a firm belief in the inerrancy of Scripture. Since the text and audio content provided by BLB represent a range of evangelical traditions, all of the ideas and principles conveyed in the resource materials are not necessarily affirmed, in total, by this ministry.
