Faulkner had 12 children, five of whom died in infancy. She married John Thomson (first librarian of the Philadelphia Free Library) in 1861. They emigrated from England in 1881, arriving in Philadelphia on the ship Warsland. She belonged to the Church of the Annunciation in Philadelphia.
