In 1543, he was appointed choirmaster at Ely Cathedral, where his friend Richard Cox was archdeacon. Tye went on to get his doctorate of music at Cambridge in 1545, and received the same degree from Oxford in 1548. His music was popular at the Chapel Royal in the late 1540’s. The Blue Letter Bible ministry and the BLB Institute hold to the historical, conservative Christian faith, which includes a firm belief in the inerrancy of Scripture. Since the text and audio content provided by BLB represent a range of evangelical traditions, all of the ideas and principles conveyed in the resource materials are not necessarily affirmed, in total, by this ministry.
