LXX Concordance for δοῦλοι

“He can take a tenth of your flocks, and you yourselves can become his servants.

Jonathan attacked the Philistine garrison[fn] in Gibeah,[fn] and the Philistines heard about it. So Saul blew the ram's horn throughout the land saying, “Let the Hebrews hear! ”[fn]

There were Hebrews from the area who had gone earlier into the camp to join the Philistines, but even they joined the Israelites who were with Saul and Jonathan.

Nabal asked them, “Who is David? Who is Jesse's son? Many slaves these days are running away from their masters.

He placed garrisons throughout Edom, and all the Edomites were subject to David. The LORD made David victorious wherever he went.

Joash's servants conspired against him and attacked him at Beth-millo on the road that goes down to Silla.

This is the reply they gave us:

We are the servants of the God of the heavens and earth, and we are rebuilding the temple that was built many years ago, which a great king of Israel built and finished.

I gave them this reply, “The God of the heavens is the one who will grant us success. We, his servants, will start building, but you have no share, right, or historic claim in Jerusalem.”

Here we are today,

slaves in the land you gave our ancestors

so that they could enjoy its fruit and its goodness.

Here we are ​— ​slaves in it!

you offspring of Abraham his servant,

Jacob's descendants ​— ​his chosen ones.

Now bless the LORD,

all you servants of the LORD

who stand in the LORD's house at night!

Give praise, you servants of the LORD

“Who is blind but my servant,

or deaf like my messenger I am sending?

Who is blind like my dedicated one,[fn]

or blind like the servant of the LORD?

This is what the LORD says:

“The products of Egypt and the merchandise of Cush

and the Sabeans, men of stature,

will come over to you

and will be yours;

they will follow you,

they will come over in chains

and bow down to you.

They will confess[fn] to you,

‘God is indeed with you, and there is no other;

there is no other God.' ”

Return, you faithless children.

I will heal your unfaithfulness.

“Here we are, coming to you,

for you are the LORD our God.

Slaves rule over us;

no one rescues us from them.

Nebuchadnezzar then approached the door of the furnace of blazing fire and called, “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, you servants of the Most High God ​— ​come out! ” So Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego came out of the fire.
