“Be H8104 careful H8104 to listen H8085 to all H3605 these H428 words H1697 which H834 I command H6680 you, so H4616 that it may be well H3190 with you and your sons H1121 after H310 you forever H5704 H5769, for you will be doing H6213 what H2896 is H2896 good H2896 and right H3477 in the sight H5869 of Yahweh H3068 your God H430.

“If H3588 there is found H4672 in your midst H7130, in any H259 of your gates H8179 of the towns which H834 Yahweh H3068 your God H430 is giving H5414 you, a man H376 or H176 a woman H802 who H834 does H6213 what H7451 is H7451 evil H7451 in the sight H5869 of Yahweh H3068 your God H430, by trespassing H5674 against His covenant H1285,

Now the downfall H8395 of Ahaziah H274 was from God H430, in that [fn]he went H935 to Joram H3141. Now in the second H8145 year H8141 of their coming H935 to the house H1004 of God H430 at Jerusalem H3389 in the second H8145 month H2320, Zerubbabel H2216 the son H1121 of Shealtiel H7597 and Jeshua H3091 the son H1121 of Jozadak H3087 and the rest H7605 of their brothers H251 the priests H3548 and the Levites H3881, and all H3605 who came H935 from the captivity H7628 to Jerusalem H3389, began H2490 the work and appointed H5975 the Levites H3881 from twenty H6242 years H8141 and older H4605 to direct H5329 the work H4399 of the house H1004 of Yahweh H3068.

“Thus H3660 they responded H8421 with a word H6600 to us, saying H560,
‘We are the servants H5649 of the God H426 of heaven H8065 and earth H772, and are rebuilding H1124 the house H1005 that was built H1124 many H7690 years H8140 ago H6928, which a great H7229 king H4430 of Israel H3479 built H1124 and completed H3635.
‘Also H638 the gold H1722 and silver H3702 utensils H3984 of the house H1005 of God H426, which H1768 Nebuchadnezzar H5020 had taken H5312 from the temple H1965 [fn]in Jerusalem H3390 and brought H2987 them to the temple H1965 of Babylon H895, these H1994 King H4430 Cyrus H3567 took H5312 out H5312 from the temple H1965 of Babylon H895, and they were given H3052 to one whose name H8036 was Sheshbazzar H8340, whom H1768 he had appointed H7761 governor H6347.
“So now H3705 if H2006 it seems H2869 good H2869 to the king H4430, let a search H1240 be made H1240 in the king's H4430 treasure H1596 house H1005, which H1768 is there H8536 in Babylon H895, if H2006 it be that a decree H2942 was issued H7761 by King H4430 Cyrus H3567 to rebuild H1124 that H1791 house H1005 of God H426 in Jerusalem H3390; and let the king H4430 send H7972 to us his will H7470 concerning H5922 this H1836 matter.”
“In the first H2298 year H8140 of King H4430 Cyrus H3567, Cyrus H3567 the king H4430 issued H7761 a decree H2942:
‘Concerning the house H1005 of God H426 in Jerusalem H3390, let that house H1005, the place H870 where H1768 sacrifices H1685 are offered H1684, be rebuilt H1124 and let its foundations H787 be [fn]retained H5446, its height H7314 being [fn]60 H8361 cubits H521 and its width H6613 60 H8361 cubits H521;
‘And also H638 let the gold H1722 and silver H3702 articles H3984 of the house H1005 of God H426, which H1768 Nebuchadnezzar H5020 took H5312 out H5312 from the temple H1965 in Jerusalem H3390 and brought H2987 to Babylon H895, be returned H8421 and [fn]brought H1981 to their places H870 in the temple H1965 in Jerusalem H3390; and you shall deposit H5182 them in the house H1005 of God H426.'
“Moreover, I issue H7761 a decree H2942 concerning what H4101 H1768 you shall do H5648 for those H479 elders H7868 of Judah H3062 in the rebuilding H1124 of that H1791 house H1005 of God H426: the full H629 cost H5313 is to be given H3052 to those H479 people H1400 from the royal H4430 treasury H5232 out of the tribute H4061 of the provinces beyond H5675 the River H5103, and that without H3809 negligence H989.
“May the God H426 who H1768 has caused His name H8036 to dwell H7932 there H8536 overthrow H4049 any H3606 king H4430 or people H5972 who H1768 [fn]stretches H7972 out his hand H3028 to change H8133 it, so as to destroy H2255 that H1791 house H1005 of God H426 in Jerusalem H3390. I, Darius H1868, have issued H7761 this decree H2942, let it be done H5648 with all H629 diligence H629!”
and all H3606 the silver H3702 and gold H1722 which H1768 you find H7912 in the whole H3606 province H4083 of Babylon H895, along H5973 with H5973 the freewill H5069 offering H5069 of the people H5972 and of the priests H3549, who offered H5069 willingly H5069 for the house H1005 of their God H426 which H1768 is in Jerusalem H3390;
with this H1836 money H3702, therefore H6903 H1836, you shall with all H629 diligence H629 buy H7066 bulls H8450, rams H1798, and lambs H563, with their grain offerings H4504 and their drink H5261 offerings H5261, and bring H7127 them near H727 to the altar H4056 of the house H1005 of your God H426 which H1768 is in Jerusalem H3390.
“So I, even I, King H4430 Artaxerxes H783, issue H7761 a decree H2942 to all H3606 the treasurers H1490 who H1768 are in the provinces beyond H5675 the [fn]River H5103, that whatever H3606 H1768 Ezra H5831 the priest H3549, the scribe H5613 of the law H1882 of the God H426 of heaven H8065, may ask H7593 of you, it shall be done H5648 with all H629 diligence H629,
“We also make H3046 known H3046 to you that it is not allowed H7990 to [fn]impose H7412 tribute H4061, custom H4061, or toll H1983 on any H3606 of the priests H3549, Levites H3879, singers H2171, doorkeepers H8652, temple H5412 servants H5412, or other servants H6399 of this H1836 house H1005 of God H426.
“And you, Ezra H5831, according to the wisdom H2452 of your God H426 which H1768 is in your hand H3028, appoint H4483 magistrates H8200 and judges H1782 that they may judge H1934 H1778 all H3606 the people H5972 who H1768 are in the province beyond H5675 the River H5103, even all H3606 those who know H3046 the laws H1882 of your God H426; and to anyone H1768 who H1768 does H3046 not H3809 know H3046 the laws, you shall make H3046 them known H3046.

Then we set H5265 out H5265 from the river H5104 Ahava H163 on the twelfth H8147 H6240 of the first H7223 month H2320 to go H1980 to Jerusalem H3389; and the hand H3027 of our God H430 was upon H5921 us, and He delivered H5337 us from the hand H3709 of the enemy H340 and the ambushes H693 by the way H1870.
Now while Ezra H5830 was praying H6419 and making H3034 confession H3034, weeping H1058 and prostrating H5307 himself before H6440 the house H1004 of God H430, a very H3966 large H7227 assembly H6951, men H376, women H802, and children H3206, gathered H6908 to him from Israel H3478; for the people H5971 wept H1058 bitterly H7235 H1059.
So all H3605 the men H376 of Judah H3063 and Benjamin H1144 gathered H6908 at Jerusalem H3389 within the three H7969 days H3117. Now the rest H7605 of the people H5971—the priests H3548, the Levites H3881, the gatekeepers H7778, the singers H7891, the temple H5411 servants H5411, and all H3605 those who had separated H914 themselves from the peoples H5971 of the lands H776 to the law H8451 of God H430, their wives H802, their sons H1121 and their daughters H1323—all H3605 those who had H3045 knowledge H3045 and understanding H995,
Likewise we cast H5307 lots H1486 for the supply H7133 of wood H6086 among the priests H3548, the Levites H3881, and the people H5971, in order to bring H935 it to the house H1004 of our God H430, according to our fathers' H1 households H1004, at fixed H2163 times H6256 annually H8141, to burn H1197 on the altar H4196 of Yahweh H3068 our God H430, as it is written H3789 in the law H8451;
Now the overseer H6496 of the Levites H3881 in Jerusalem H3389 was Uzzi H5813 the son H1121 of Bani H1137, the son H1121 of Hashabiah H2811, the son H1121 of Mattaniah H4983, the son H1121 of Mica H4316, from the sons H1121 of Asaph H623, who were the singers H7891 [fn]over the work H4399 of the house H1004 of God H430.
The heads H7218 of the Levites H3881 were Hashabiah H2811, Sherebiah H8274, and Jeshua H3091 the son H1121 of Kadmiel H6934, with their brothers H251 opposite H5048 them, to praise H1984 and give H3034 thanks H3034, by the commandment H4687 of David H1732 the man H376 of God H430, watch H4929 by H5980 watch H4929.

And that we may walk H1980 in His paths H734.”
For from Zion H6726 the [fn]law H8451 will go H3318 forth H3318
So the word H1697 of Yahweh H3068 to them will be,
“[fn]Order H6673 on order H6673, order H6673 on order H6673,

A little H2191 here H8033, a little H2191 there H8033,”
That they may go H1980 and stumble H3782 backward H268, be broken H7665, snared H3369, and taken H3920 captive H3920.
“Yet they seek H1875 Me day H3117 by day H3117 and find H2654 pleasure H2654 in knowing H1847 My ways H1870,
As a nation H1471 that has done H6213 righteousness H6666
And has not forsaken H5800 the judgment H4941 of their God H430.
They ask H7592 Me for righteous H6664 judgments H4941;

“Now when H3588 you tell H5046 this H2088 people H5971 all H3605 these H428 words H1697, they will say H559 to you, ‘For H5921 what H4100 reason H5921 H4100 has Yahweh H3068 declared H1696 all H3605 this H2088 great H1419 calamity H7451 against H5921 us? “Raise H7321 a H7321 loud H7321 shout H7321 against H5921 her on every H5439 side H5439!
She has given H5414 [fn]herself H3027 up H5414, her pillars H803 have fallen H5307,
Her walls H2346 have been pulled H2040 down H2040.
For this H1931 is the vengeance H5360 of Yahweh H3068:
Then the glory H3519 of the God H430 of Israel H3478 went H5927 up H5927 from the cherub H3742 on which H834 it had been H1961, to the threshold H4670 of the house H1004 of Yahweh.
