LXX Concordance for ἄρτων

When the whole land of Egypt was stricken with famine, the people cried out to Pharaoh for food. Pharaoh told all Egypt, “Go to Joseph and do whatever he tells you.”

“Why should we die here in front of you ​— ​both us and our land? Buy us and our land in exchange for food. Then we with our land will become Pharaoh's slaves. Give us seed so that we can live and not die, and so that the land won't become desolate.”

“I have heard the complaints of the Israelites. Tell them: At twilight you will eat meat, and in the morning you will eat bread until you are full. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God.”

“If any of the meat of ordination or any of the bread is left until morning, burn what is left over. It must not be eaten because it is holy.

“Burn up what remains of the meat and bread.

“But if a priest purchases someone with his own silver, that person may eat it, and those born in his house may eat his food.

“But if the priest's daughter becomes widowed or divorced, has no children, and returns to her father's house as in her youth, she may share her father's food. But no outsider may share it.

“When I cut off your supply of bread, ten women will bake your bread in a single oven and ration out your bread by weight, so that you will eat but not be satisfied.

“you are to offer a contribution to the LORD when you eat from the food of the land.

“This is because they did not meet you with food and water on the journey after you came out of Egypt, and because Balaam son of Beor from Pethor in Aram-naharaim was hired to curse you.

The angel of the LORD said to him, “If I stay, I won't eat your food. But if you want to prepare a burnt offering, offer it to the LORD.” (Manoah did not know he was the angel of the LORD.)

At mealtime Boaz told her, “Come over here and have some bread and dip it in the vinegar sauce.” So she sat beside the harvesters, and he offered her roasted grain. She ate and was satisfied and had some left over.

“They offer a burnt offering and fragrant incense to the LORD every morning and every evening, and they set the rows of the Bread of the Presence on the ceremonially clean table. They light the lamps of the gold lampstand every evening. We are carrying out the requirements of the LORD our God, while you have abandoned him.

“I will abundantly bless its food;

I will satisfy its needy with bread.

“Come, eat my bread,

and drink the wine I have mixed.

“Stolen water is sweet,

and bread eaten secretly is tasty! ”

The one who works his land will have plenty of food,

but whoever chases fantasies lacks sense.

Don't love sleep, or you will become poor;

open your eyes, and you'll have enough to eat.

A generous person[fn] will be blessed,

for he shares his food with the poor.

will have his fill of poverty.

“until I come and take you away to a land like your own land ​— ​a land of grain and new wine, a land of bread and vineyards.

“Instead, we will do everything we promised:[fn] we will burn incense to the queen of heaven[fn] and offer drink offerings to her just as we, our ancestors, our kings, and our officials did in Judah's cities and in Jerusalem's streets. Then we had enough food, we were well off, and we saw no disaster,

“Now this was the iniquity of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters had pride, plenty of food, and comfortable security, but didn't support[fn] the poor and needy.

I gave you absolutely nothing to eat[fn] in all your cities,

a shortage of food in all your communities,

yet you did not return to me.

This is the LORD's declaration.
