Then he gave them strict orders: “Watch out! Beware of the leaven[fn] of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod.”

“But you, be on your guard! They will hand you over to local courts,[fn] and you will be flogged in the synagogues. You will stand before governors and kings because of me, as a witness to them.

“And you must watch! I have told you everything in advance.

“Watch! Be alert![fn] For you don't know when the time is coming.

“Therefore take care how you listen. For whoever has, more will be given to him; and whoever does not have, even what he thinks he has will be taken away from him.”

“So beware that what is said in the prophets does not happen to you:

But be careful that this right of yours in no way becomes a stumbling block to the weak.

Consider the people of Israel.[fn] Do not those who eat the sacrifices participate in the altar?

If Timothy comes, see that he has nothing to fear while with you, because he is doing the Lord's work, just as I am.

But if you bite and devour one another, watch out, or you will be consumed by one another.

Watch out for the dogs, watch out for the evil workers, watch out for those who mutilate the flesh.

Be careful that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deceit based on human tradition, based on the elements of the world, rather than Christ.

Watch yourselves so that you don't lose what we[fn] have worked for, but that you may receive a full reward.

Jesus replied to them, “Go and report to John what you hear and see:

“For truly I tell you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see the things you see but didn't see them, to hear the things you hear but didn't hear them.

He replied to them, “Do you see all these things? Truly I tell you, not one stone will be left here on another that will not be thrown down.”

“Do you have eyes and not see; do you have ears and not hear? And do you not remember?

Then turning to his disciples he said privately, “Blessed are the eyes that see the things you see!

“Therefore, since he has been exalted to the right hand of God and has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit, he has poured out what you both see and hear.

Look at what is obvious.[fn] If anyone is confident that he belongs to Christ, let him remind himself of this: Just as he belongs to Christ, so do we.

not neglecting to gather together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day approaching.
