Strong’s Definitions [?](Strong’s Definitions Legend)
ἐκεῖνος ekeînos, ek-i'-nos; from G1563; that one (or (neuter) thing); often intensified by the article prefixed:—he, it, the other (same), selfsame, that (same, very), × their, × them, they, this, those. See also G3778.
STRONGS G1565:
ἐκεῖνος, ἐκείνῃ, ἐκεῖνο (from ἐκεῖ, properly, the one there, cf. German dortig, derdort), demonstrative pronoun, that man, woman, thing (Latinille, illa, illud); properly of persons, things, times, places somewhat remote from the speaker.
1. used absolutely,
a. in antithesis, referring to the more remote subject: opposed to οὗτος, Luke 18:14; James 4:15; ὑμῖν... ἐκείνοις, Matthew 13:11; Mark 4:11; ἐκεῖνοι... ἡμεῖς, Hebrews 12:25; ἄλλοι... ἄλλοι... ἐκεῖνος, John 9:9; ἐκεῖνον... ἐμέ, John 3:30; οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι... ἐκεῖνος δέ, John 2:20f; μέν κύριος Ἰησοῦς (R G T omit Ἰησοῦς WH Tr marginal reading brackets)... ἐκεῖνοι δέ, Mark 16:19f, etc.
b. of noted persons (as in classic Greek): in a bad sense, that notorious man, John 7:11; John 9:28; in a good sense — of the Lord Jesus, 1 John 2:6; 1 John 3:3, 5, 7, 16; 1 John 4:17; of the Holy Spirit, with an apposition added, ἐκεῖνος, τό πνεῦμα τῆς ἀληθείας, John 16:13.
c. referring to a noun immediately preceding, he, she, it, (Latinis,ea,id, German selbiger): John 7:45; John 5:46; Mark 16:11; Acts 3:13, etc.; cf. Winers Grammar, § 23, 1; (Buttmann, 104 (91). Here perhaps may be noticed its use together with αὐτός of the same subject in the same sentence: ἐζωγρημένοι ὑπ' αὐτοῦ (i. e. the devil) εἰς τό ἐκείνου θέλημα, 2 Timothy 2:26; cf. Thucydides 1, 132, 6; 4, 29, 3; Xenophon, Cyril 4, 5, 20; see Riddell, the Apology of Plato, Appian, § 49; Kühner, § 467, 12; cf. ζωγρέω 2); equivalent to an emphatic (German er) he, etc., Matthew 17:27; John 1:8; John 5:43; Titus 3:7; equivalent to the forcibly uttered German der (that one etc.), in which sense it serves to recall and lay stress upon nouns just before used (cf. our resumptive the same; Winer's Grammar, § 23, 4): John 1:18; John 5:39; John 12:48; John 14:26; John 15:26; especially is it thus resumptive of a subject expressed participially (Buttmann, 306 (262f)): Mark 7:15 (T WH omit; Tr brackets the pronoun), Mark 7:20; John 1:33; John 9:37 (ἐκεῖνος ἐστιν, namely, υἱός τοῦ Θεοῦ, see εἰμί, II. 5); John 10:1; John 14:21; Romans 14:14; 2 Corinthians 10:18; (Xenophon, Cyril 6, 2, 33 γάρ λογχην ἀκονων, ἐκεῖνος καί τήν ψυχήν τί παρακονα).
d. followed by ὅτι, Matthew 24:43; followed by ὅς, John 13:26; Romans 14:15.
2. joined with nouns, and then the noun with the article either precedes, or (somewhat more rarely) follows it (Winers Grammar, 162 (153)) (Buttmann, 119f (104f));
a. in contrasts: πρώτη ἐκείνῃ, Hebrews 8:7.
b. used to distinguish accurately from others the things or the persons spoken of, (German selbig): Matthew 7:25, 27; Matthew 10:15; Matthew 18:32; Mark 3:24; Luke 6:48; John 18:15, and often; especially of Time — and of time past: ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις ἐκείναις, הָהֵם בַּיָמִים, at that time which has been spoken of; said of time which the writer either cannot or will not define more precisely and yet wishes to be connected with the time of the events just narrated: Matthew 3:1; Mark 1:9; Mark 8:1; Luke 2:1 (Exodus 2:11; Judges 18:1; 1 Samuel 28:1); cf. Fritzsche on Matthew, p. 106f; at the time under consideration: Luke 4:2; Luke 9:36; the same phrase is used of time future: Matthew 24:19; Acts 2:18 (from Joel 2:29 (Joel 3:2)); Revelation 9:6; likewise in the singular, ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ἡμέρα, Luke 17:31; John 16:23, 26. But the solemn phrase ἐκείνῃ ἡμέρα, or ἡμέρα ἐκείνῃ, simply sets future time in opposition to the present, that fateful day, that decisive day, when the Messiah will come to judge: Matthew 7:22; Luke 6:23; Luke 10:12; 2 Thessalonians 1:10; 2 Timothy 1:12, 18; Revelation 16:14 (where L T Tr WH omit ἐκείνης); so in the phrase αἰών ἐκεῖνος, Luke 20:35.
3. ἐκείνης (in Rec. δἰ ἐκείνης), scil. ὁδοῦ, adverbially, (by) that way: Luke 19:4; Winers Grammar, § 64, 5; (Buttmann, 171 (149); see ποῖος, at the end). John's use of the pronoun ἐκεῖνος is discussed by Steitz in the Studien und Kritiken for 1859, p. 497ff; 1861, p. 267ff, and by Alex. Buttmann, ibid. 1860, p. 505ff and in Hilgenfeld's Zeitsch. für wissenschaftl. Theol. 1862, p. 204ff; Buttmann clearly proves in opposition to Steitz that John's usage deviates in no respect from the Greek; Steitz, however, resorts to psychological considerations in the case of John 19:35 (regarding ἐκεῖνος there as expressing the writer's inward assurance. But Steitz is now understood to have modified his published views.)

Now G1161 in those G1565 days G2250 John G2491 the Baptist G910 *[fn]came G3854, [fn]preaching G2784 in the wilderness G2048 of Judea G2449, saying G3004,

Unchecked Copy BoxMat 7:22 - “Many G4183 will say G3004 to Me on that day G2250, ‘Lord G2962, Lord G2962, did we not prophesy G4395 in Your name G3686, and in Your name G3686 cast G1544 out G1544 demons G1140, and in Your name G3686 perform G4160 many G4183 [fn]miracles G1411?’
Unchecked Copy BoxMat 7:25 - “And the rain G1028 fell G2597 and the [fn]floods G4215 came G2064, and the winds G417 blew G4154 and slammed G4363 against G4363 that house G3614; and yet it did not fall G4098, for it had been founded G2311 on the rock G4073.
Unchecked Copy BoxMat 7:27 - “And the rain G1028 fell G2597 and the [fn]floods G4215 came G2064, and the winds G417 blew G4154 and slammed G4350 against G4350 that house G3614; and it fell G4098—and its collapse G4431 was great G3173.”
Unchecked Copy BoxMat 8:13 - And Jesus G2424 said G3004 to the centurion G1543, “Go G5217; [fn]it shall be done G1096 for you as you have believed G4100.” And the [fn]servant G3816 was healed G2390 at that very [fn]moment G5610.
Unchecked Copy BoxMat 8:28 -

And when He came G2064 to the other G4008 side G4008 into the country G5561 of the Gadarenes G1046, two G1417 demon-possessed G1139 men confronted G5221 Him as they were coming G1831 out G1831 of the tombs G3419. They were so extremely G3029 violent G5467 that no G3361 one G5100 could G2480 pass G3928 by that way G3598.

Unchecked Copy BoxMat 9:22 - But Jesus G2424, turning G4762 and seeing G3708 her, said G3004, “Daughter G2364, take G2293 courage G2293; your faith G4102 has [fn]made G4982 you well G4982.” And [fn]at once G1565 G5610 the woman G1135 was [fn]made G4982 well G4982.

Unchecked Copy BoxMat 10:14 - “And whoever G3739 does not receive G1209 you nor G3366 listen G191 to your words G3056, as you leave G1831 that house G3614 or G2228 city G4172, shake G1621 the dust G2868 off G1621 your feet G4228.
Unchecked Copy BoxMat 10:15 - “Truly G281 I say G3004 to you, it will be more G414 tolerable G414 for the land G1093 of Sodom G4670 and Gomorrah G1116 on the day G2250 of judgment G2920, than G2228 for that city G4172.
Unchecked Copy BoxMat 10:19 - “But when G3752 they hand G3860 you over G3860, do not worry G3309 about G3309 how G4459 or G2228 what G5101 you are to say G2980; for what G5101 you are to say G2980 will be given G1325 you in that hour G5610.
Unchecked Copy BoxMat 11:25 -

[fn]At that time G2540 Jesus G2424 said G3004, “I praise G1843 You, Father G3962, Lord G2962 of heaven G3772 and earth G1093, that You have hidden G2928 these G3778 things G3778 from the wise G4680 and intelligent G4908, and have revealed G601 them to infants G3516.

Unchecked Copy BoxMat 12:1 -

[fn]At that time G2540 Jesus G2424 went G4198 through G1223 the grainfields G4702 on the Sabbath G4521, and His disciples G3101 became hungry G3983 and began G757 to pick G5089 the heads G4719 of grain and eat G2068.

Unchecked Copy BoxMat 12:45 - “Then G5119 it goes G4198 and brings G3880 along G3880 with it seven G2033 other G2087 spirits G4151 more G4190 wicked G4190 than itself G1438, and they come G1525 in G1525 and live G2730 there G1563; and the last G2078 condition of that person G444 becomes G1096 worse G5501 than the first G4413. That is the way G3779 it will also G2532 be with this G3778 evil G4190 generation G1074.”
Unchecked Copy BoxMat 13:1 -

On that day G2250 Jesus G2424 had gone G1831 out G1831 of the house G3614 and was sitting G2521 by the sea G2281.

Unchecked Copy BoxMat 13:44 -

“The kingdom G932 of heaven G3772 is like G3664 a treasure G2344 hidden G2928 in the field G68, which G3739 a man G444 found G2147 and hid G2928 again; and from [fn]joy G5479 over it he goes G5217 and sells G4453 everything G3745 that he has G2192, and buys G59 that field G68.

Unchecked Copy BoxMat 14:1 -

[fn]At that time G2540 [fn]Herod G2264 [fn]the tetrarch G5076 heard G191 the news G189 about Jesus G2424,

Unchecked Copy BoxMat 14:35 - And when the men G435 of that place G5117 [fn]recognized G1921 Him, they sent G649 word into all G3650 that surrounding G4066 region G4066 and brought G4374 to Him all G3956 who were sick G2560;
Unchecked Copy BoxMat 15:22 - And a Canaanite G5478 woman G1135 from that region G3725 came G1831 out G1831 and began to cry G2896 out G2896, saying G3004, “Have G1653 mercy G1653 on me, Lord G2962, Son G5207 of David G1138; my daughter G2364 is severely G2560 demon-possessed G1139.”
Unchecked Copy BoxMat 15:28 - Then G5119 Jesus G2424 said G3004 to her, “O G5599 woman G1135, your faith G4102 is great G3173; it shall be done G1096 for you as you desire G2309.” And her daughter G2364 was healed G2390 [fn]at once G1565 G5610.
Unchecked Copy BoxMat 17:18 - And Jesus G2424 rebuked G2008 him, and the demon G1140 came G1831 out G1831 of him, and the boy G3816 was healed G2323 [fn]at once G575 G1565 G5610.
Unchecked Copy BoxMat 17:27 - “However G1161, so G2443 that G2443 we do not offend G4624 them, go G4198 to the sea G2281 and throw G906 in a hook G44, and take G142 the first G4413 fish G2486 that comes G305 up G305; and when you open G455 its mouth G4750, you will find G2147 a [fn]stater G4715. Take G2983 that and give G1325 it to them for you and Me.”
Unchecked Copy BoxMat 18:1 -

At that [fn]time G5610 the disciples G3101 came G4334 to Jesus G2424 and said G3004, “Who G5101 then G686 is greatest G3173 in G686 the kingdom G932 of heaven G3772?”

Unchecked Copy BoxMat 18:27 - “And the master G2962 of that slave G1401 felt G4697 compassion G4697, and he released G630 him and forgave G863 him the [fn]debt G1156.
Unchecked Copy BoxMat 18:28 - “But that slave G1401 went G1831 out G1831 and found G2147 one G1520 of his fellow G4889 slaves G4889 who G3739 owed G3784 him a hundred G1540 [fn]denarii G1220; and he seized G2902 him and began to choke G4155 him, saying G3004, ‘Pay G591 back G591 what G5101 you owe G3784!’
Unchecked Copy BoxMat 18:32 - “Then G5119 summoning G4341 him, his master G2962 *said G3004 to him, ‘You wicked G4190 slave G1401, I forgave G863 you all G3956 that debt G3782 because G1893 you pleaded G3870 with me.
Unchecked Copy BoxMat 20:4 - and to those G1565 he said G3004, ‘You go G5217 into the vineyard G290 also G2532, and whatever G3739 G1437 is right G1342, I will give G1325 you.’ And so they went G565.
Unchecked Copy BoxMat 21:40 - “Therefore G3767, when G3752 the [fn]owner G2962 of the vineyard G290 comes G2064, what G5101 will he do G4160 to those G1565 vine-growers G1092?”
Unchecked Copy BoxMat 22:7 - “Now the king G935 was G3710 angry G3710, and he sent G3992 his armies G4753 and destroyed G622 those G1565 murderers G5406 and set G4092 their city G4172 on G4092 fire G4092.
Unchecked Copy BoxMat 22:10 - “Those G1565 slaves G1401 went G1831 out G1831 into the streets G3598 and gathered G4863 together G4863 all G3956 whom G3739 they found G2147, both G5037 bad G4190 and good G18; and the wedding G3567 hall G3567 was filled G4130 with [fn]dinner G345 guests G345.
Unchecked Copy BoxMat 22:23 -

On that day G2250 some Sadducees G4523 (who say G3004 there is no G3361 resurrection G386) came G4334 to [fn]Jesus and questioned G1905 Him,

Unchecked Copy BoxMat 22:46 - No G3762 one G3762 was able G1410 to offer G611 Him a word G3056 in G611 answer G611, nor G3761 did anyone G5100 dare G5111 from that day G2250 on to ask G1905 Him any G3765 more G3765 questions G1905.
Unchecked Copy BoxMat 24:19 - “But woe G3759 to those G3588 women G3588 who are pregnant G2192 G1064, and to those G3588 who are nursing G2337 babies G2337 in those G3588 days G2250!
Unchecked Copy BoxMat 24:22 - “And if G1487 those G1565 days G2250 had not been cut G2856 short G2856, no G3756 G3956 [fn]life G4561 would have been saved G4982; but for the sake G1223 of the [fn]elect G1588 those G1565 days G2250 will be cut G2856 short G2856.
Unchecked Copy BoxMat 24:29 -

“But immediately G2112 after G3326 the tribulation G2347 of those G1565 days G2250 THE SUN G2246 WILL BE DARKENED G4654, AND THE MOON G4582 WILL NOT GIVE G1325 ITS LIGHT G5338, AND THE STARS G792 WILL FALL G4098 from the sky G3772, and the powers G1411 of the heavens G3772 will be shaken G4531.

Unchecked Copy BoxMat 24:36 -

“But about G4012 that day G2250 and hour G5610 no G3762 one G3762 knows G6063, not even G3761 the angels G32 of heaven G3772, nor G3761 the Son G5207, but the Father G3962 alone G3441.

Unchecked Copy BoxMat 24:38 - “For as in those G1565 days G2250 before G4253 the flood G2627 they were eating G5176 and drinking G4095, marrying G1060 and giving G1061 in G1061 marriage G1061, until G891 the day G2250 that Noah G3575 entered G1525 the ark G2787,
Unchecked Copy BoxMat 24:43 - “But [fn]be sure G1097 of this G1565, that if G1487 the head G3617 of G3617 the G3617 house G3617 had known G6063 at what G4169 time G5438 of G5438 the G5438 night G5438 the thief G2812 was coming G2064, he would have been on the alert G1127 and would not have allowed G1439 his house G3614 to be broken G1358 into.
Unchecked Copy BoxMat 24:46 - “Blessed G3107 is that slave G1401 whom G3739 his [fn]master G2962 finds G2147 so G3779 doing G4160 when he comes G2064.
Unchecked Copy BoxMat 24:48 - “But if G1437 that evil G2556 slave G1401 says G3004 in his heart G2588, ‘My [fn]master G2962 [fn]is G5549 not G5549 coming G5549 for G5549 a G5549 long G5549 time G5549,’
