If my step has turned from the way,
my heart has followed my eyes,
or impurity has stained my hands,
The LORD has made himself known;
he has executed justice,
snaring the wicked
by the work of their hands.Higgaion. Selah
The one who has clean hands and a pure heart,
who has not appealed to[fn] what is false,
and who has not sworn deceitfully.

from the grasp of the unjust and oppressive.
“I relieved his shoulder from the burden;
his hands were freed from carrying the basket.
My eyes are worn out from crying.
LORD, I cry out to you all day long;
I spread out my hands to you.

I will not listen.
Your hands are covered with blood.
The fading flower of his beautiful splendor,
which is on the summit above the rich valley,
will be like a ripe fig before the summer harvest.
Whoever sees it will swallow it
while it is still in his hand.
The one who lives righteously
and speaks rightly,
who refuses profit from extortion,
whose hand never takes a bribe,
who stops his ears from listening to murderous plots
and shuts his eyes against evil schemes —
“Look, you are relying on Egypt, that splintered reed of a staff that will pierce the hand of anyone who grabs it and leans on it. This is how Pharaoh king of Egypt is to all who rely on him.
“I dug wells and drank water in foreign lands.[fn]
I dried up all the streams of Egypt
with the soles of my feet.”
“And I will rescue you and this city from the grasp of the king of Assyria; I will defend this city.
