When Jesus turned and noticed them following him, he asked them, “What are you looking for? ”
They said to him, “Rabbi” (which means “Teacher”), “where are you staying? ”
The next day Jesus[fn] decided to leave for Galilee. He found Philip and told him, “Follow me.”
A huge crowd was following him because they saw the signs that he was performing by healing the sick.
Jesus spoke to them again: “I am the light of the world. Anyone who follows me will never walk in the darkness but will have the light of life.”
“When he has brought all his own outside, he goes ahead of them. The sheep follow him because they know his voice.
“They will never follow a stranger; instead they will run away from him, because they don’t know the voice of strangers.”
The Jews who were with her in the house consoling her saw that Mary got up quickly and went out. They followed her, supposing that she was going to the tomb to cry there.
“If anyone serves me, he must follow me. Where I am, there my servant also will be. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.
“Lord,” Simon Peter said to him, “where are you going? ”
Jesus answered, “Where I am going you cannot follow me now, but you will follow later.”
Simon Peter was following Jesus, as was another disciple. That disciple was an acquaintance of the high priest; so he went with Jesus into the high priest’s courtyard.
Then, following him, Simon Peter also came. He entered the tomb and saw the linen cloths lying there.
He said this to indicate by what kind of death Peter would glorify God. After saying this, he told him, “Follow me.”
So Peter turned around and saw the disciple Jesus loved following them, the one who had leaned back against Jesus at the supper and asked, “Lord, who is the one that’s going to betray you? ”
