“Let both grow together until the harvest. At harvest time I’ll tell the reapers: Gather the weeds first and tie them in bundles to burn them, but collect the wheat in my barn.’ ”

He told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like leaven[fn] that a woman took and mixed into fifty pounds[fn] of flour until all of it was leavened.”

Immediately he[fn] made the disciples get into the boat and go ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowds.

“Truly I tell you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.”

As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus commanded them, “Don’t tell anyone about the vision until the Son of Man is raised[fn] from the dead.”

Jesus replied, “You unbelieving and perverse generation, how long will I be with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring him here to me.”

Then Peter approached him and asked, “Lord, how many times must I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? As many as seven times? ”

“But he wasn’t willing. Instead, he went and threw him into prison until he could pay what was owed.

“And because he was angry, his master handed him over to the jailers to be tortured until he could pay everything that was owed.

“When evening came, the owner of the vineyard told his foreman, ‘Call the workers and give them their pay, starting with the last and ending with the first.’

“The same thing happened to the second also, and the third, and so on to all seven.

“The Lord declared to my Lord,

‘Sit at my right hand

until I put your enemies under your feet’?[fn]

“So all the righteous blood shed on the earth will be charged to you,[fn] from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the sanctuary and the altar.

“For I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord’! ”

“For at that time there will be great distress,[fn] the kind that hasn’t taken place from the beginning of the world until now and never will again.

“For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.

“He will send out his angels with a loud trumpet, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other.

“Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things take place.

“They didn’t know until the flood came and swept them all away. This is the way the coming of the Son of Man will be.

“But I tell you, I will not drink from this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.”

Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and he told the disciples, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.”

He said to them, “I am deeply grieved[fn] to the point of death. Remain here and stay awake with me.”

Peter was following him at a distance right to the high priest’s courtyard. He went in and was sitting with the servants to see the outcome.

Therefore that field has been called “Field of Blood” to this day.

From noon until three in the afternoon,[fn] darkness came over the whole land.[fn]

Suddenly, the curtain of the sanctuary was torn in two from top to bottom, the earth quaked, and the rocks were split.

“So give orders that the tomb be made secure until the third day. Otherwise, his disciples may come, steal him, and tell the people, ‘He has been raised from the dead,’ and the last deception will be worse than the first.”

“teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember,[fn] I am with you always,[fn] to the end of the age.”

He said to them, “Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you leave that place.

He promised her with an oath: “Whatever you ask me I will give you, up to half my kingdom.”

Immediately he made his disciples get into the boat and go ahead of him to the other side, to Bethsaida, while he dismissed the crowd.

Then he said to them, “Truly I tell you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God come in power.”

He replied to them, “You unbelieving generation, how long will I be with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring him to me.”

“David himself says by the Holy Spirit:

The Lord declared to my Lord,

‘Sit at my right hand

until I put your enemies under your feet.’

“For those will be days of tribulation, the kind that hasn’t been from the beginning of creation until now and never will be again.
