Page 3 / 3 (Act 26:30–Heb 7:15)
And again, Isaiah says,
The root of Jesse will appear,
the one who rises to rule the Gentiles;
the Gentiles will hope in him.
Don’t become idolaters as some of them were; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and got up to party.[fn]
for what makes everything visible is light. Therefore it is said:
Get up, sleeper, and rise up from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you.
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, in the same way, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep.
For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout,[fn] with the archangel’s voice, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
Now if perfection came through the Levitical priesthood (for on the basis of it the people received the law), what further need was there for another priest to appear, said to be according to the order of Melchizedek and not according to the order of Aaron?
