STRONGS G599:
ἀποθνήσκω, imperfect ἀπέθνήσκον (Luke 8:42); 2 aorist ἀπέθανον; future ἀποθανοῦμαι, Romans 5:7; John 8:21, 24 (see θνήσκω); found in Greek writings from Homer down; to die (ἀπό, so as to be no more; [cf. Latin emorior; English die off or out, pass away); German absterben, versterben);
I. used properly
1. of the natural death of men: Matthew 9:24; Matthew 22:24; Luke 16:22; John 4:47; Romans 7:2, and very often; ἀποθνήσκοντες ἄνθρωποι subject to death, mortal, Hebrews 7:8 [Buttmann, 206 (178)].
2. of the violent death — both of animals, Matthew 8:32, and of men, Matthew 26:35; Acts 21:13 etc.; 1 Peter 3:18 L T Tr WH text; ἐν φόνῳ μαχαίρας, Hebrews 11:37; of the punishment of death, Hebrews 10:28; often of the violent death which Christ suffered, as John 12:33; Romans 5:6, etc.
3. Phrases: ἀποθνήσκ. ἔκ τινος, to perish by means of something, [cf. English to die of], Revelation 8:11; ἐν τῇ ἁμαρτίᾳ, ἐν ταῖς ἁμαρτίαις, fixed in sin, hence, to die unreformed, John 8:21, 24; ἐν τῷ Ἀδάμ by connection with Adam, 1 Corinthians 15:22; ἐν κυρίῳ in fellowship with, and trusting in, the Lord, Revelation 14:13; ἀποθνήσκ. τι, to die a certain death, Romans 6:10 (θάνατον μακρόν, Chariton, p. 12, D'Orville edition [l. i. c. 8, p. 17, 6, Beck edition; cf. Winers Grammar, 227 (213); Buttmann, 149 (130)]); τῇ ἁμαρτίᾳ, used of Christ, 'that he might not have to busy himself more with the sin of men,' Romans 6:10; ἑαυτῷ to become one's own master, independent, by dying, Romans 14:7 [cf. Meyer]; τῷ κυρίῳ to become subject to the Lord's will by dying, Romans 14:8 [cf. Meyer]; διά τινα i. e. to save one, 1 Corinthians 8:11; on the phrases ἀποθνήσκ. περί and ὑπέρ τινος, see περί, I. c. δ. and ὑπέρ I. 2 and 3. Oratorically, although the proper signification of the verb is retained, καθ’ ἡμέραν ἀποθνήσκω I meet death daily, live daily in danger of death, 1 Corinthians 15:31, cf. 2 Corinthians 6:9.
4. of trees which dry up, Jude 1:12; of seeds, which while being resolved into their elements in the ground seem to perish by rotting, John 12:24; 1 Corinthians 15:36.
II. tropically, in various senses;
1. of eternal death, as it is called, i. e. to be subject to eternal misery, and that, too, already beginning on earth: Romans 8:13; John 6:50; John 11:26.
2. of moral death, in various senses;
a. to be deprived of real life, i. e. especially of the power of doing right, of confidence in God and the hope of future blessedness, Romans 7:10; of the spiritual torpor of those who have fallen from the fellowship of Christ, the fountain of true life, Revelation 3:2.
b. with the dative of the thing [cf. Winers Grammar, 210 (197); 428 (398); Buttmann, 178 (155)], to become wholly alienated from a thing, and freed from all connection with it: τῷ νόμῳ, Galatians 2:19, which must also be supplied with ἀποθανόντες (for so we must read for Rec.elz ἀποθανόντος) in Romans 7:6 [cf. Winer's Grammar, 159 (150)]; τῇ ἁμαρτίᾳ, Romans 6:2 (in another sense in Romans 6:10; see I. 3 above); ἀπὸ τῶν στοιχείων τοῦ κόσμου so that your relation to etc. has passed away, Colossians 2:20 (ἀπὸ τῶν παθῶν, Porphyry, de abst. animal. 1, 41 [cf. Buttmann, 322 (277); Winer's Grammar, 370 (347)]); true Christians are said simply ἀποθανεῖν, as having put off all sensibility to worldly things that draw them away from God, Colossians 3:3; since they owe this habit of mind to the death of Christ, they are said also ἀποθανεῖν σὺν Χριστῷ, Romans 6:8; Colossians 2:20. [Compare: συναποθνήσκω.]

Unchecked Copy BoxRom 5:6 - For while we were still G2089 helpless, G772 at the right G2540 time G2540 Christ G5547 died G599 for the ungodly. G765
Unchecked Copy BoxRom 5:7 - For one G5100 will hardly G3433 die G599 for a righteous G1342 man; G1342 [fn]though G1063 perhaps G5029 for the good G18 man G18 someone G5100 would dare G5111 even G2532 to die. G599
Unchecked Copy BoxRom 5:8 - But God G2316 demonstrates G4921 His own G1438 love G26 toward G1519 us, in that while we were yet G2089 sinners, G268 Christ G5547 died G599 for us.
Unchecked Copy BoxRom 5:15 - But [fn]the free G5486 gift G5486 is not like G5613 the transgression. G3900 For if G1487 by the transgression G3900 of the one G1520 the many G4183 died, G599 much G4183 more G3123 did the grace G5485 of God G2316 and the gift G1431 by the grace G5485 of the one G1520 Man, G444 Jesus G2424 Christ, G5547 abound G4052 to the many. G4183
Unchecked Copy BoxRom 6:2 - May it never G3361 be! How G4459 shall we who G3748 died G599 to sin G266 still G2089 live G2198 in it?
Unchecked Copy BoxRom 6:7 - for he who has died G599 is [fn]freed G1344 from sin. G266
Unchecked Copy BoxRom 6:8 - Now G1161 if G1487 we have died G599 with Christ, G5547 we believe G4100 that we shall also G2532 live G4800 with Him,
Unchecked Copy BoxRom 6:9 - knowing G6063 that Christ, G5547 having been raised G1453 from the dead, G3498 [fn]is never G3765 to die G599 again; G3765 death G2288 no G3765 longer G3765 is master G2961 over G2961 Him.
Unchecked Copy BoxRom 6:10 - For the death that He died, G599 He died G599 to sin G266 once G2178 for all; G2178 but the life G2198 that He lives, G2198 He lives G2198 to God. G2316
Unchecked Copy BoxRom 7:2 - For the married G5220 woman G1135 is bound G1210 by law G3551 to her [fn]husband G435 while he is living; G2198 but if G1437 her husband G435 dies, G599 she is released G2673 from the law G3551 [fn]concerning the husband. G435
Unchecked Copy BoxRom 7:3 - So G686 then, G686 if G1437 while her husband G435 is living G2198 she is joined G1096 to another G2087 man, G435 she shall be called G5537 an adulteress; G3428 but if G1437 her husband G435 dies, G599 she is free G1658 from the law, G3551 so that she is not an adulteress G3428 though she is joined G1096 to another G2087 man. G435
Unchecked Copy BoxRom 7:6 - But now G3570 we have been released G2673 from the Law, G3551 having died G599 to that by which G3739 we were bound, G2722 so G5620 that we serve G1398 in newness G2538 of the [fn]Spirit G4151 and not in oldness G3821 of the letter. G1121
Unchecked Copy BoxRom 7:9 - I was once G4218 alive G2198 apart G5565 [fn]from the Law; G3551 but when the commandment G1785 came, G2064 sin G266 became G326 alive G326 and I died; G599
Unchecked Copy BoxRom 8:13 - for if G1487 you are living G2198 according G2596 to the flesh, G4561 you [fn]must G3195 die; G599 but if G1487 by the Spirit G4151 you are putting G2289 to death G2289 the deeds G4234 of the body, G4983 you will live. G2198
Unchecked Copy BoxRom 8:34 - who G5101 is the one who condemns? G2632 Christ G5547 Jesus G2424 is He who died, G599 yes, G1161 rather G3123 who was [fn]raised, G1453 who G3739 is at the right G1188 hand G1188 of God, G2316 who G3739 also G2532 intercedes G1793 for us.
Unchecked Copy BoxRom 14:7 - For not one G3762 of us lives G2198 for himself, G1438 and not one G3762 dies G599 for himself; G1438
Unchecked Copy BoxRom 14:8 - for if G1437 we live, G2198 we live G2198 for the Lord, G2962 or G5037 if G1437 we die, G599 we die G599 for the Lord; G2962 therefore G3767 whether G1437 G5037 we live G2198 or G1437 G5037 die, G599 we are the Lord’s. G2962
Unchecked Copy BoxRom 14:9 - For to this G3778 end Christ G5547 died G599 and lived G2198 again, that He might be Lord G2961 both G2532 of the dead G3498 and of the living. G2198
Unchecked Copy BoxRom 14:15 - For if G1487 because G1223 of food G1033 your brother G80 is hurt, G3076 you are no G3765 longer G3765 walking G4043 according G2596 to love. G26 Do not destroy G622 with your food G1033 him for whom G3739 Christ G5547 died. G599
Unchecked Copy Box1Co 8:11 - For through G1722 your knowledge G1108 he who is weak G770 is ruined, G622 the brother G80 for whose G3739 sake G1223 Christ G5547 died. G599
Unchecked Copy Box1Co 9:15 - But I have used G5530 none G3762 of these G3778 things. G3778 And I am not writing G1125 these G3778 things G3778 so G3779 that it will be done G1096 so G3779 in my case; G1722 for it would be better G2570 G3123 for me to die G599 than G2228 have any G5100 man make G2758 my boast G2745 an empty G2758 one.
Unchecked Copy Box1Co 15:3 - For I delivered G3860 to you [fn]as of first G4413 importance G4413 what G3739 I also G2532 received, G3880 that Christ G5547 died G599 for our sins G266 according G2596 to the Scriptures, G1124
Unchecked Copy Box1Co 15:22 - For as in Adam G76 all G3956 die, G599 so G3779 also G2532 in [fn]Christ G5547 all G3956 will be made G2227 alive. G2227
Unchecked Copy Box1Co 15:31 - I affirm, G3513 brethren, G80 by the boasting G2746 in you which G3739 I have G2192 in Christ G5547 Jesus G2424 our Lord, G2962 I die G599 daily. G2596 G2250
Unchecked Copy Box1Co 15:32 - If G1487 [fn]from human G444 motives G2596 I fought G2341 with wild G2341 beasts G2341 at Ephesus, G2181 what G5101 does it profit G3786 me? If G1487 the dead G3498 are not raised, G1453 LET US EAT G2068 AND DRINK G4095, FOR TOMORROW G839 WE DIE G599.
Unchecked Copy Box1Co 15:36 - You fool! G878 That which G3739 you sow G4687 does not come G2227 to life G2227 unless G1437 G3361 it dies; G599
Unchecked Copy Box2Co 5:14 - For the love G26 of Christ G5547 controls G4912 us, having concluded G2919 this, G3778 that one G1520 died G599 for all, G3956 therefore G686 all G3956 died; G599
Unchecked Copy Box2Co 5:15 - and He died G599 for all, G3956 so G2443 that they who live G2198 might no G3371 longer G3371 live G2198 for themselves, G1438 but for Him who died G599 and rose G1453 again G1453 on their behalf. G5228
Unchecked Copy Box2Co 6:9 - as unknown G50 [fn]yet G2532 well-known, G1921 as dying G599 [fn]yet G2532 behold, G2400 we live; G2198 as [fn]punished G3811 [fn]yet G2532 not put G2289 to death, G2289
Unchecked Copy BoxGal 2:19 - “For through G1223 [fn]the Law G3551 I died G599 to [fn]the Law, G3551 so G2443 that I might live G2198 to God. G2316
Unchecked Copy BoxGal 2:21 - “I do not nullify G114 the grace G5485 of God, G2316 for if G1487 righteousness G1343 comes through G1223 [fn]the Law, G3551 then G686 Christ G5547 died G599 needlessly.” G1431
