Let them praise his name with dancing
and make music to him with tambourine and lyre.

This honor is for all his faithful people.

“It’s worthless, it’s worthless! ” the buyer says,
but after he is on his way, he gloats.
The one who boasts about a gift that does not exist
is like clouds and wind without rain.
Those who reject the law praise the wicked,
but those who keep the law pit themselves against them.
Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting,
but a woman who fears the LORD will be praised.
Give her the reward of her labor,[fn]
and let her works praise her at the city gates.
I said about laughter, “It is madness,” and about pleasure, “What does this accomplish? ”
Surely, the practice of extortion turns a wise person into a fool,
and a bribe corrupts the mind.
But my dove, my virtuous one, is unique;

then you can swear, “As the LORD lives,”
in truth, justice, and righteousness,

The wise person should not boast in his wisdom;
the strong should not boast in his strength;

“But the one who boasts should boast in this:
that he understands and knows me —

Praise the LORD,
for he rescues the life of the needy
from evil people.

For this is what the LORD says:
Sing with joy for Jacob;
shout for the foremost of the nations!
Proclaim, praise, and say,
“LORD, save your people,
the remnant of Israel! ”
Rise up, you cavalry!
Race furiously, you chariots!
Let the warriors march out —
Cush and Put,
who are able to handle shields,
and the men of Lud,
who are able to handle and string the bow.
Why do you boast about your valleys,
your flowing valley,[fn]
you faithless daughter —
you who trust in your treasures
and say, “Who can attack me? ”
A drought will come on her waters,
and they will be dried up.
For it is a land of carved images,
and they go mad because of terrifying things.[fn]
Babylon was a gold cup in the LORD’s hand,
making the whole earth drunk.
The nations drank her wine;
therefore, the nations go mad.
You will have plenty to eat and be satisfied.
You will praise the name of the LORD your God,
who has dealt wondrously with you.
My people will never again be put to shame.
