For what portion would I have from God above,
or what inheritance from the Almighty on high?
this would also be an iniquity deserving punishment,
for I would have denied God above.
For the prudent the path of life leads upward,
so that he may avoid going down to Sheol.
Who knows if the spirits of the children of Adam go upward and the spirits of animals go downward to the earth?
Seraphim[fn] were standing above him; they each had six wings: with two they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they flew.
“Ask for a sign from the LORD your God — it can be as deep as Sheol or as high as heaven.”
They will wander through the land, dejected and hungry. When they are famished, they will become enraged, and, looking upward, will curse their king and their God.

The cherubim lifted their wings and ascended from the earth right before my eyes; the wheels were beside them as they went. The glory of the God of Israel was above them, and it stopped at the entrance to the eastern gate of the LORD’s house.
Then the cherubim, with the wheels beside them, lifted their wings, and the glory of the God of Israel was above them.
As I looked, tendons appeared on them, flesh grew, and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them.
The side rooms surrounding the temple widened at each successive story, for the structure surrounding the temple went up by stages. This was the reason for the temple’s broadness as it rose. And so, one would go up from the lowest story to the highest by means of the middle one.[fn]
