Ahab Battles Against Aram

1 So [fn]they lived ^H3427 for three ^H7969 years ^H8141 without ^H369 war ^H4421 between ^H996 Aram ^H758 and Israel ^H3478.

2 Now it happened in the third ^H7992 year ^H8141, that Jehoshaphat ^H3092 the king ^H4428 of Judah ^H3063 came ^H3381 down ^H3381 to the king ^H4428 of Israel ^H3478. 3 Then the king ^H4428 of Israel ^H3478 said ^H559 to his servants ^H5650, “Do you know ^H3045 that Ramoth-gilead ^H7433 belongs to us, but we are sitting still ^H2814 so as not to take ^H3947 it out of the hand ^H3027 of the king ^H4428 of Aram ^H758?” 4 So he said ^H559 to Jehoshaphat ^H3092, “Will you go ^H1980 with me to battle ^H4421 at Ramoth-gilead ^H7433?” And Jehoshaphat ^H3092 said ^H559 to the king ^H4428 of Israel ^H3478, “I am as you are, my people ^H5971 as your people ^H5971, my horses ^H5483 as your horses ^H5483.”

Ahab Hates Micaiah

5 Moreover, Jehoshaphat ^H3092 said ^H559 to the king ^H4428 of Israel ^H3478, “Please ^H4994 inquire ^H1875 [fn]first ^H3117 for the word ^H1697 of Yahweh ^H3068.”

6 Then the king ^H4428 of Israel ^H3478 gathered ^H6908 the prophets ^H5030 together, about four ^H702 hundred ^H3967 men ^H376, and said ^H559 to them, “Shall I go ^H1980 against ^H5921 Ramoth-gilead ^H7433 to battle ^H4421 or ^H518 shall I refrain ^H2308?” And they said ^H559, “Go ^H5927 up ^H5927, for the Lord ^H136 will give ^H5414 it into the hand ^H3027 of the king ^H4428.” 7 But Jehoshaphat ^H3092 said ^H559, “Is ^H369 there ^H369 not ^H369 yet ^H5750 a prophet ^H5030 of Yahweh ^H3068 here ^H6311 that we may inquire ^H1875 of him?” 8 And the king ^H4428 of Israel ^H3478 said ^H559 to Jehoshaphat ^H3092, “There is yet ^H5750 one ^H259 man ^H376 by whom we may inquire ^H1875 of Yahweh ^H3068, but I hate ^H8130 him, because ^H3588 he does not prophesy ^H5012 good ^H2896 concerning ^H5921 me, but evil ^H7451. Micaiah Prophesies Against Ahab

13 Now the messenger ^H4397 who ^H834 went ^H1980 to summon ^H7121 Micaiah ^H4321 spoke ^H1696 to him saying ^H559, “Behold ^H2009 now ^H4994, the words ^H1697 of the prophets ^H5030, as if from one ^H259 mouth ^H6310, are good ^H2896 towards the king ^H4428. Please ^H4994 let your word ^H1697 be like the word ^H1697 of one ^H259 of them, and speak ^H1696 that which is good ^H2896.”

14 But Micaiah ^H4321 said ^H559, “As Yahweh ^H3068 lives ^H2416, what ^H3588 H834 Yahweh ^H3068 says ^H559 to me, that I shall speak ^H1696.”

15 Then he came ^H935 to the king ^H4428, and the king ^H4428 said ^H559 to him, “Micaiah ^H4321, shall we go ^H1980 to Ramoth-gilead ^H7433 to battle ^H4421, or ^H518 shall we refrain ^H2308?” And he said ^H559 to him, “Go ^H5927 up ^H5927 and succeed ^H6743, and Yahweh ^H3068 will give ^H5414 it into the hand ^H3027 of the king ^H4428.” 16 Then the king ^H4428 said ^H559 to him, “How ^H5704 H4100 many ^H5704 H4100 times ^H6471 must I make ^H7650 you swear ^H7650 that you will speak ^H1696 to me nothing ^H3808 but the truth ^H571 in the name ^H8034 of Yahweh ^H3068?” 17 So he said ^H559,

“I saw ^H7200 all ^H3605 Israel ^H3478

Scattered ^H6327 on the mountains ^H2022,

Like sheep ^H6629 which ^H834 have ^H369 no ^H369 shepherd ^H7462.

And Yahweh ^H3068 said ^H559,

‘These ^H428 have no ^H3808 master ^H113.

Let each ^H376 of them return ^H7725 to his house ^H1004 in peace ^H7965.’”

18 Then the king ^H4428 of Israel ^H3478 said ^H559 to Jehoshaphat ^H3092, “Did I not say ^H559 to you that he would not prophesy ^H5012 good ^H2896 concerning ^H5921 me, but evil ^H7451?”

19 Then [fn]Micaiah said ^H559, “Therefore ^H3651, hear ^H8085 the word ^H1697 of Yahweh ^H3068. I saw ^H7200 Yahweh ^H3068 sitting ^H3427 on His throne ^H3678, and all ^H3605 the host ^H6635 of heaven ^H8064 standing ^H5975 by Him on His right ^H3225 and on His left ^H8040. 20 And Yahweh ^H3068 said ^H559, ‘Who ^H4310 will entice ^H6601 Ahab ^H256 so that he will go ^H5927 up ^H5927 and fall ^H5307 at Ramoth-gilead ^H7433?’ And one ^H2088 said ^H559 this ^H3541 while another ^H2088 said ^H559 that. 21 Then a spirit ^H7307 came ^H3318 forward ^H3318 and stood ^H5975 before ^H6440 Yahweh ^H3068 and said ^H559, ‘I will entice ^H6601 him.’ 22 And Yahweh ^H3068 said ^H559 to him, ‘How ^H4100?’ And he said ^H559, ‘I will go ^H3318 out ^H3318 and be a lying ^H8267 spirit ^H7307 in the mouth ^H6310 of all ^H3605 his prophets ^H5030.’ Then He said ^H559, ‘You shall entice ^H6601 him and also ^H1571 prevail ^H3201. The Death of Ahab

29 So the king ^H4428 of Israel ^H3478 and Jehoshaphat ^H3092 king ^H4428 of Judah ^H3063 went ^H5927 up ^H5927 against Ramoth-gilead ^H7433.

Ahaziah Reigns over Israel
