1 Therefore ^G3767, having ^G2192 these ^G3778 promises ^G1860, beloved ^G27, let us cleanse ^G2511 ourselves ^G1438 from all ^G3956 defilement ^G3436 of flesh ^G4561 and spirit ^G4151, perfecting ^G2005 holiness ^G42 in the fear ^G5401 of God ^G2316.

Godly Sorrow Produces Repentance

2 Make ^G5562 room ^G5562 for us in your hearts. We wronged ^G91 no ^G3762 one ^G3762, we corrupted ^G5351 no ^G3762 one ^G3762, we took ^G4122 advantage ^G4122 of no ^G3762 one ^G3762.

3 I do not speak ^G3004 to condemn ^G2633 you, for I have said ^G4280 before ^G4280 that you are in our hearts ^G2588 to die ^G4880 together ^G4880 and to live ^G4800 together ^G4800. 4 Great ^G4183 is my boldness ^G3954 toward you; great ^G4183 is my boasting ^G2746 on ^G5224 your behalf ^G5228. I have been filled ^G4137 with comfort ^G3874; I am ^G5248 overflowing ^G5248 with joy ^G5479 in all ^G3956 our affliction ^G2347.

5 For even ^G2532 when we came ^G2064 into Macedonia ^G3109 our flesh ^G4561 had ^G2192 no ^G3762 rest ^G425, but we were afflicted ^G2346 on every ^G3956 side—conflicts ^G3163 without ^G1855, fears ^G5401 within ^G2081. 6 But God ^G2316, who comforts ^G3870 the humbled ^G5011, comforted ^G3870 us by the coming ^G3952 of Titus ^G5103; 7 and not only ^G3440 by his coming ^G3952, but also ^G2532 by the comfort ^G3874 with which ^G3739 he was comforted ^G3870 in you, as he reported ^G312 to us your longing ^G1972, your mourning ^G3602, your zeal ^G2205 for me, so ^G5620 that I rejoiced ^G5463 even more ^G3123. 8 For though ^G1487 G2532 I caused ^G3076 you sorrow ^G3076 by my letter ^G1992, I do not regret ^G3338 it, though ^G1487 G2532 I did regret ^G3338 it—for I see ^G991 that that letter ^G1992 caused ^G3076 you sorrow ^G3076, though ^G1487 G2532 only ^G2532 for a while ^G5610— 9 I now ^G3568 rejoice ^G5463, not that you were made ^G3076 sorrowful ^G3076, but that you were made ^G3076 sorrowful ^G3076 to repentance ^G3341.
