Paul and Silas in Thessalonica

1 Now ^G1161 when they had traveled ^G1353 through ^G1353 Amphipolis ^G295 and Apollonia ^G624, they came ^G2064 to Thessalonica ^G2332, where ^G3699 there was a synagogue ^G4864 of the Jews ^G2453.

In Berea

10 And the brothers ^G80 immediately ^G2112 sent ^G1599 Paul ^G3972 and Silas ^G4609 away ^G1599 by night ^G3571 to Berea ^G960, [fn]and when they arrived ^G3854, they went ^G549 into the synagogue ^G4864 of the Jews ^G2453.

22 So ^G1161 Paul ^G3972 stood ^G2476 in the midst ^G3319 of the [fn]Areopagus ^G697 and said ^G5346, “Men ^G435 of Athens ^G117, I observe ^G2334 that you are very ^G1175 religious ^G1175 in all ^G3956 respects ^G3956. 23 For while I was passing ^G1330 through ^G1330 and examining ^G333 the objects ^G4574 of ^G4574 your worship ^G4574, I also ^G2532 found ^G2147 an altar ^G1041 with this ^G3739 inscription ^G1924, ‘TO AN UNKNOWN ^G57 GOD ^G2316.’ Therefore ^G3767 what ^G3739 you worship ^G2151 in ignorance ^G50, this ^G3778 I proclaim ^G2605 to you. 24 The God ^G2316 who made ^G4160 the world ^G2889 and all ^G3956 things ^G3956 in it, since He is Lord ^G2962 of heaven ^G3772 and earth ^G1093, does not dwell ^G2730 in temples ^G3485 made ^G5499 with hands ^G5499; 25 nor ^G3761 is He served ^G2323 by human ^G442 hands ^G5495, as though He needed ^G4326 anything ^G5100, since He Himself ^G846 gives ^G1325 to all ^G3956 people life ^G2222 and breath ^G4157 and all ^G3956 things ^G3956; 26 and He made ^G4160 from one ^G1520 man every ^G3956 nation ^G1484 of mankind ^G444 to inhabit ^G2730 all ^G3956 the face ^G4383 of the earth ^G1093, having determined ^G3724 their appointed ^G4367 times ^G2540 and the boundaries ^G3734 of their habitation ^G2733, 27 that they would seek ^G2212 God ^G2316, if ^G1487 perhaps ^G686 they might grope ^G5584 for Him and find ^G2147 Him, though ^G2532 G1065 He is not far ^G3112 from each ^G1538 one ^G1520 of us; 28 for in Him we live ^G2198 and move ^G2795 and [fn]exist ^G1510, as even ^G2532 some ^G5100 of your own poets ^G4163 have said ^G3004, ‘For we also ^G2532 are His offspring ^G1085.’ 29 Being ^G5225 then ^G3767 the offspring ^G1085 of God ^G2316, we ought ^G3784 not to suppose ^G3543 that the Divine ^G2304 Nature ^G2304 is like ^G3664 gold ^G5557 or ^G2228 silver ^G696 or ^G2228 stone ^G3037, an image ^G5480 formed ^G5480 by the craft ^G5078 and thought ^G1761 of man ^G444. 30 Therefore ^G3767 having overlooked ^G5237 the times ^G5550 of ignorance ^G52, God ^G2316 is now ^G3568 commanding ^G518 men ^G444 that everyone ^G3956 everywhere ^G3837 should repent ^G3340, 31 because ^G2530 He has fixed ^G2476 a day ^G2250 in which ^G3739 He will ^G3195 judge ^G2919 [fn]the world ^G3625 in righteousness ^G1343 [fn]through ^G1722 a Man ^G435 whom ^G3739 He determined ^G3724, having furnished ^G3930 proof ^G4102 to all ^G3956 [fn]by raising ^G450 Him from the dead ^G3498.”

32 Now ^G1161 when they heard ^G191 about the resurrection ^G386 of the dead ^G3498, some ^G3588 G3303 began to sneer ^G5512, but others ^G3588 said ^G3004, “We shall hear ^G191 you [fn]again ^G2532 G3825 concerning ^G4012 this ^G3778.” 33 In ^G3779 this ^G3779 way ^G3779, Paul ^G3972 went ^G1831 out ^G1831 of their midst ^G3319. 34 But some ^G5100 men ^G435 joined ^G2853 him and believed ^G4100, among ^G1722 whom ^G3739 also ^G2532 were Dionysius ^G1354 the Areopagite ^G698 and a woman ^G1135 named ^G3686 Damaris ^G1152 and others ^G2087 with them.
