The Blessing of Moses

1 Now this ^H2088 is the blessing ^H1293 with which ^H834 Moses ^H4872 the man ^H376 of God ^H430 blessed ^H1288 the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 before ^H6440 his death ^H4194.

2 And he said ^H559,

“Yahweh ^H3068 came ^H935 from Sinai ^H5514,

And He [fn]dawned ^H2224 on them from Seir ^H8165;

He shone ^H3313 forth ^H3313 from Mount ^H2022 Paran ^H6290,

And He came ^H857 from the [fn]midst of ten ^H7233 thousand ^H7233 holy ^H6944 ones ^H6944;

At His right ^H3225 hand ^H3225 there was [fn]flashing ^H799 lightning ^H799 for them.

3 “Indeed ^H637, He loves ^H2245 [fn]the people ^H5971;

All ^H3605 [fn]Your holy ^H6918 ones ^H6918 are in Your hand ^H3027,

And they [fn]followed ^H8497 in Your steps ^H7272;

Everyone is bearing ^H5375 up ^H5375 Your words ^H1703.

4 “Moses ^H4872 commanded ^H6680 us with a law ^H8451,

A possession ^H4181 for the assembly ^H6952 of Jacob ^H3290.

5 “And He was king ^H4428 in Jeshurun ^H3484,

When the heads ^H7218 of the people ^H5971 were gathered ^H622,

The tribes ^H7626 of Israel ^H3478 together ^H3162.

6 “May Reuben ^H7205 live ^H2421 and not die ^H4191,

Nor ^H408 his men ^H4962 be few ^H4557.”

7 And this ^H2088 regarding Judah ^H3063; so he said ^H559,

“Hear ^H8085, O Yahweh ^H3068, the voice ^H6963 of Judah ^H3063,

And bring ^H935 him to his people ^H5971.

With his hands ^H3027 he contended ^H7378 for [fn]them,

And may You be a help ^H5828 against ^H4480 his adversaries ^H6862.”

8 Of Levi ^H3878 he said ^H559,

“Let Your Thummim ^H8550 and Your Urim ^H224 belong to [fn]Your holy ^H2623 one ^H376,

Whom ^H834 You tested ^H5254 at Massah ^H4532,

[fn]With whom You contended ^H7378 at the waters ^H4325 of Meribah ^H4809;

9 Who said ^H559 of his father ^H1 and his mother ^H517,

‘I did not consider ^H7200 them’;

And he did not recognize ^H5234 his brothers ^H251,

Nor ^H3808 did he know ^H3045 his own sons ^H1121,

For they kept ^H8104 Your word ^H565,

And they observed ^H5341 Your covenant ^H1285.

10 “They shall [fn]teach ^H3384 Your judgments ^H4941 to Jacob ^H3290,

And Your law ^H8451 to Israel ^H3478.

They shall put ^H7760 incense ^H6988 [fn]before ^H639 You,

And whole ^H3632 burnt ^H3632 offerings ^H3632 on Your altar ^H4196.

11 “O Yahweh ^H3068, bless ^H1288 his substance ^H2428,

And accept ^H7521 the work ^H6467 of his hands ^H3027;

Crush ^H4272 the loins ^H4975 of those who rise ^H6965 up ^H6965 against him,

And those who hate ^H8130 him, so ^H4480 that ^H4480 they will not ^H4480 rise ^H6965 again.”

12 Of Benjamin ^H1144 he said ^H559,

“May the beloved ^H3039 of Yahweh ^H3068 dwell ^H7931 in security ^H983 by Him,

Who shields ^H2653 him all ^H3605 the day ^H3117,

And he dwells ^H7931 between ^H996 His shoulders ^H3802.”

13 Of Joseph ^H3130 he said ^H559,

“Blessed ^H1288 of Yahweh ^H3068 be his land ^H776,

With the choice ^H4022 things ^H4022 of heaven ^H8064, with the dew ^H2919,

And from the deep ^H8415 lying ^H7257 beneath ^H8478,

14 And with the choice ^H4022 produce ^H8393 of the sun ^H8121,

And with the choice ^H4022 yield ^H1645 of the months ^H3391,

15 And with the [fn]best ^H7218 things ^H7218 of the ancient ^H6924 mountains ^H2022,

And with the choice ^H4022 things ^H4022 of the everlasting ^H5769 hills ^H1389,

16 And with the choice ^H4022 things ^H4022 of the earth ^H776 and its fullness ^H4393,

And the favor ^H7522 of Him who dwelt ^H7931 in ^H7931 the bush ^H5572.

Let it come ^H935 to the head ^H7218 of Joseph ^H3130,

And to the top ^H6936 of ^H6936 the ^H6936 head ^H6936 of the one ^H5139 distinguished ^H5139 among his brothers ^H251.

17 “As the firstborn ^H1060 of his ox ^H7794, splendor ^H1926 is his,

And his horns ^H7161 are the horns ^H7161 of the wild ^H7214 ox ^H7214;

With them he will push ^H5055 the peoples ^H5971,

All ^H3162 [fn]at ^H3162 once ^H3162, to the ends ^H657 of the earth ^H776.

And those ^H1992 are the ten ^H7233 thousands ^H7233 of Ephraim ^H669,

And those ^H1992 are the thousands ^H505 of Manasseh ^H4519.”

18 Of Zebulun ^H2074 he said ^H559,

“Be glad ^H8055, Zebulun ^H2074, in your going ^H3318 forth ^H3318,

And, Issachar ^H3485, in your tents ^H168.

19 “They will call ^H7121 peoples ^H5971 to the mountain ^H2022;

There ^H8033 they will offer ^H2076 righteous ^H6664 sacrifices ^H2077;

For they will [fn]draw ^H3243 out ^H3243 the abundance ^H8228 of the seas ^H3220,

And the hidden ^H2934 treasures ^H5603 of the sand ^H2344.”

20 Of Gad ^H1410 he said ^H559,

“Blessed ^H1288 is the one who enlarges ^H7337 Gad ^H1410;

He lies ^H7931 down ^H7931 as a [fn]lion ^H3833,

And tears ^H2963 the arm ^H2220, also ^H637 the top ^H6936 of ^H6936 the ^H6936 head ^H6936.

21 “Then he [fn]provided ^H7200 the first ^H7225 part for himself,

For there ^H8033 the ruler’s ^H2710 portion ^H2513 was [fn]reserved ^H5603;

And he came ^H857 with the heads ^H7218 of the people ^H5971;

He did ^H6213 the righteousness ^H6666 of Yahweh ^H3068,

And His judgments ^H4941 with Israel ^H3478.”

22 Of Dan ^H1835 he said ^H559,

“Dan ^H1835 is a lion’s ^H738 whelp ^H1482,

That leaps ^H2187 forth from Bashan ^H1316.”

23 Of Naphtali ^H5321 he said ^H559,

“O Naphtali ^H5321, satisfied ^H7649 with favor ^H7522,

And full ^H4392 of the blessing ^H1293 of Yahweh ^H3068,

Take ^H3423 possession ^H3423 of the sea ^H3220 and the south ^H1864.”

24 Of Asher ^H836 he said ^H559,

“More ^H4480 blessed ^H1288 than ^H4480 sons ^H1121 is Asher ^H836;

May he be favored ^H7521 by his brothers ^H251,

And may he dip ^H2881 his foot ^H7272 in oil ^H8081.

25 “Your locks ^H4515 will be iron ^H1270 and bronze ^H5178,

And according to your days ^H3117, so your fortitude ^H1679 will be.

26 “There ^H369 is ^H369 none ^H369 like the God ^H410 of [fn]Jeshurun ^H3484,

Who rides ^H7392 the heavens ^H8064 [fn]to your help ^H5828,

And through the skies ^H7834 in His majesty ^H1346.

27 “The eternal ^H6924 God ^H430 is a [fn]dwelling ^H4585 place ^H4585,

And underneath ^H8478 are the everlasting ^H5769 arms ^H2220;

And He drove ^H1644 out ^H1644 the enemy ^H340 from before ^H4480 H6440 you,

And said ^H559, ‘Destroy ^H8045!’

28 “So Israel ^H3478 dwells ^H7931 in ^H983 security ^H983,

The fountain ^H5869 of Jacob ^H3290 secluded ^H910,

In a land ^H776 of grain ^H1715 and new ^H8492 wine ^H8492;

His heavens ^H8064 also ^H637 drop ^H6201 down ^H6201 dew ^H2919.

29 “Blessed ^H835 are you, O Israel ^H3478;

Who ^H4310 is like ^H3644 you, a people ^H5971 saved ^H3467 by Yahweh ^H3068,

Who is the shield ^H4043 of your help ^H5828

And the sword ^H2719 of your majesty ^H1346!

So your enemies ^H340 will cower ^H3584 before you,

And you will tread ^H1869 upon their high ^H1116 places ^H1116.”
