Yahweh Cuts His Covenant with Israel

1 Then He said ^H559 to Moses ^H4872, “Come ^H5927 up ^H5927 to Yahweh ^H3068, you and Aaron ^H175, Nadab ^H5070 and Abihu ^H30 and seventy ^H7657 of the elders ^H2205 of Israel ^H3478, and you all shall worship ^H2331 at a distance ^H7350.

2 Moses ^H4872 alone ^H905, however, shall come ^H5066 near ^H5066 to Yahweh ^H3068, but they shall not come ^H5066 near ^H5066, and the people ^H5971 shall not ^H3808 come ^H5927 up ^H5927 with him.”

3 Then Moses ^H4872 came ^H935 and recounted ^H5608 to the people ^H5971 all ^H3605 the words ^H1697 of Yahweh ^H3068 and all ^H3605 the judgments ^H4941; and all ^H3605 the people ^H5971 answered ^H6030 with one ^H259 voice ^H6963 and said ^H559, “All ^H3605 the words ^H1697 which ^H834 Yahweh ^H3068 has spoken ^H1696 we will do ^H6213!” 4 And Moses ^H4872 wrote ^H3789 down ^H3789 all ^H3605 the words ^H1697 of Yahweh ^H3068. 9 Then Moses ^H4872 went ^H5927 up ^H5927 [fn]with Aaron ^H175, Nadab ^H5070 and Abihu ^H30, and seventy ^H7657 of the elders ^H2205 of Israel ^H3478, 10 and they saw ^H7200 the God ^H430 of Israel ^H3478; and under ^H8478 His feet ^H7272 [fn]there appeared to be a pavement ^H3843 of sapphire ^H5601, [fn]as clear ^H2892 as the sky ^H8064 itself ^H6106. 11 Yet He did not stretch ^H7971 out ^H7971 His hand ^H3027 against ^H413 the nobles ^H678 of the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478; and they beheld ^H2372 God ^H430, and they ate ^H398 and drank ^H8354.

12 Now Yahweh ^H3068 said ^H559 to Moses ^H4872, “Come ^H5927 up ^H5927 to Me on the mountain ^H2022 and [fn]remain ^H1961 there ^H8033, and I will give ^H5414 you the stone ^H68 tablets ^H3871 [fn]with the [fn]law ^H8451 and the commandment ^H4687 which ^H834 I have written ^H3789 for their instruction ^H3384.” 13 So Moses ^H4872 arose ^H6965 [fn]with Joshua ^H3091 his [fn]attendant ^H8334, and Moses ^H4872 went ^H5927 up ^H5927 to the mountain ^H2022 of God ^H430. 14 But to the elders ^H2205 he said ^H559, “Remain ^H3427 here ^H2088 for us until ^H5704 H834 we return ^H7725 to you. And behold ^H2009, Aaron ^H175 and Hur ^H2354 are with you; whoever ^H4310 [fn]has a legal matter ^H1697, let him approach ^H5066 them.” 15 Then Moses ^H4872 went ^H5927 up ^H5927 to the mountain ^H2022, and the cloud ^H6051 covered ^H3680 the mountain ^H2022. 16 And the glory ^H3519 of Yahweh ^H3068 dwelt ^H7931 on Mount ^H2022 Sinai ^H5514, and the cloud ^H6051 covered ^H3680 it for six ^H8337 days ^H3117; and on the seventh ^H7637 day ^H3117 He called ^H7121 to Moses ^H4872 from the midst ^H8432 of the cloud ^H6051. 17 And the appearance ^H4758 of the glory ^H3519 of Yahweh ^H3068 was like a consuming ^H398 fire ^H784 on the mountain ^H2022 top ^H7218, in the eyes ^H5869 of the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478. 18 Then Moses ^H4872 entered ^H935 the midst ^H8432 of the cloud ^H6051 [fn]as he went ^H5927 up ^H5927 to the mountain ^H2022; and Moses ^H4872 was on the mountain ^H2022 forty ^H705 days ^H3117 and forty ^H705 nights ^H3915.
