Prophesy Against Egypt

1 In the tenth ^H6224 year ^H8141, in the tenth ^H6224 month, on the twelfth ^H8147 H6240 of the month ^H2320, the word ^H1697 of Yahweh ^H3068 came ^H1961 to me saying ^H559,

2 “Son ^H1121 of man ^H120, set ^H7760 your face ^H6440 against ^H5921 Pharaoh ^H6547 king ^H4428 of Egypt ^H4714 and prophesy ^H5012 against ^H5921 him and against ^H5921 all ^H3605 Egypt ^H4714. 3 Speak ^H1696 and say ^H559, ‘Thus ^H3541 says ^H559 Lord ^H136 Yahweh ^H3068,

“Behold ^H2009, I am against ^H5921 you, Pharaoh ^H6547 king ^H4428 of Egypt ^H4714,

The great ^H1419 [fn]monster ^H8577 that lies ^H7257 in the midst ^H8432 of his canals ^H2975 of the Nile ^H2975,

That has said ^H559, ‘My Nile ^H2975 is mine, and I myself ^H589 have made ^H6213 it.’

4 “I will put ^H5414 hooks ^H2397 in your jaws ^H3895

And make the fish ^H1710 of your canals ^H2975 of the Nile ^H2975 cling ^H1692 to your scales ^H7193.

And I will bring ^H5927 you up ^H5927 out of the midst ^H8432 of your canals ^H2975 of the Nile ^H2975,

And all ^H3605 the fish ^H1710 of your canals ^H2975 of the Nile ^H2975 will cling ^H1692 to your scales ^H7193.

5 “I will abandon ^H5203 you to the wilderness ^H4057, you and all ^H3605 the fish ^H1710 of your canals ^H2975 of the Nile ^H2975;

You will fall ^H5307 on the [fn]open ^H6440 field ^H7704; you will not be brought ^H622 together ^H622 or [fn]gathered ^H6908.

I have given ^H5414 you for food ^H402 to the beasts ^H2416 of the earth ^H776 and to the birds ^H5775 of the sky ^H8064.

6 “Then all ^H3605 the inhabitants ^H3427 of Egypt ^H4714 will know ^H3045 that I am Yahweh ^H3068

Because ^H3282 they have been ^H1961 only a staff ^H4938 made of reed ^H7070 to the house ^H1004 of Israel ^H3478.

7 “When they seized ^H8610 you with the hand ^H3709,

You tore ^H7533 and split ^H1234 open all ^H3605 their [fn]shoulders ^H3802;

And when they leaned ^H8172 on you,

You broke ^H7665 and made all ^H3605 their loins ^H4975 [fn]quake ^H5975.”

8 ‘Therefore ^H3651 thus ^H3541 says ^H559 Lord ^H136 Yahweh ^H3068, “Behold ^H2009, I will bring ^H935 upon you a sword ^H2719, and I will cut ^H3772 off ^H3772 from you man ^H120 and beast ^H929. 9 The land ^H776 of Egypt ^H4714 will become ^H1961 a desolation ^H8077 and waste ^H2723. Then they will know ^H3045 that I am Yahweh ^H3068.

Because ^H3282 [fn]you said ^H559, ‘The Nile ^H2975 is mine, and I have made ^H6213 it,’ 10 therefore ^H3651, behold ^H2009, I am against ^H413 you and against ^H413 your canals ^H2975 of the Nile ^H2975, and I will make ^H5414 the land ^H776 of Egypt ^H4714 an utter ^H2721 waste ^H2721 and desolation ^H8077, from Migdol ^H4024 to Syene ^H5482 and even to the border ^H1366 of [fn]Ethiopia ^H3568. 11 A man’s ^H120 foot ^H7272 will not pass ^H5674 through it, and the foot ^H7272 of a beast ^H929 will not pass ^H5674 through it, and it will not be inhabited ^H3427 for forty ^H705 years ^H8141. 12 So I will make ^H5414 the land ^H776 of Egypt ^H4714 a desolation ^H8077 in the midst ^H8432 of desolated ^H8074 lands ^H776. And her cities ^H5892, in the midst ^H8432 of cities ^H5892 that are laid ^H2717 waste ^H2717, will be desolate ^H8077 forty ^H705 years ^H8141; and I will scatter ^H6327 the Egyptians ^H4714 among the nations ^H1471 and disperse ^H2219 them among the lands ^H776.”

13 ‘For thus ^H3541 says ^H559 Lord ^H136 Yahweh ^H3068, “At the end ^H7093 of forty ^H705 years ^H8141 I will gather ^H6908 the Egyptians ^H4714 from the peoples ^H5971 [fn]among ^H8033 whom ^H834 they were scattered ^H6327. 14 I will return ^H7725 the fortunes ^H7622 of Egypt ^H4714 and make ^H7725 them return ^H7725 to the land ^H776 of Pathros ^H6624, to the land ^H776 of their origin ^H4351, and there ^H8033 they will be a lowly ^H8217 kingdom ^H4467. 15 It will be the lowest ^H8217 of the kingdoms ^H4467, and it will never ^H3808 again ^H5750 lift ^H5375 itself up ^H5375 above ^H5921 the nations ^H1471. And I will make ^H4591 them so small ^H4591 that they will not have dominion ^H7287 over ^H5921 the nations ^H1471. 16 And it will never ^H3808 again ^H5750 be the security ^H4009 of the house ^H1004 of Israel ^H3478, bringing ^H2142 to ^H2142 remembrance ^H2142 the iniquity ^H5771 of their having turned ^H6437 to go after Egypt. Then they will know ^H3045 that I am Lord ^H136 Yahweh ^H3068.”’”

17 Now in the twenty-seventh ^H6242 H7651 year ^H8141, in the first ^H7223 month, on the first ^H259 of the month ^H2320, the word ^H1697 of Yahweh ^H3068 came ^H1961 to me saying ^H559, 18 “Son ^H1121 of man ^H120, Nebuchadnezzar ^H5019 king ^H4428 of Babylon ^H894 made his military ^H2428 force ^H2428 [fn]labor ^H5656 hard ^H1419 against ^H413 Tyre ^H6865; every ^H3605 head ^H7218 was made ^H7139 bald ^H7139, and every ^H3605 shoulder ^H3802 was rubbed ^H4803 bare ^H4803. But he and his military ^H2428 force ^H2428 had ^H1961 no ^H3808 wages ^H7939 from Tyre ^H6865 for the [fn]labor ^H5656 that he had [fn]labored ^H5647 against ^H5921 it.” 19 Therefore ^H3651 thus ^H3541 says ^H559 Lord ^H136 Yahweh ^H3068, “Behold ^H2009, I will give ^H5414 the land ^H776 of Egypt ^H4714 to Nebuchadnezzar ^H5019 king ^H4428 of Babylon ^H894. And he will carry ^H5375 off ^H5375 her [fn]abundance ^H1995 and capture ^H7997 her spoil ^H7998 and seize ^H962 her plunder ^H957; and it will be wages ^H7939 for his military ^H2428 force ^H2428. 20 I have given ^H5414 him the land ^H776 of Egypt ^H4714 for his work ^H6468 which ^H834 he [fn]labored ^H5647 because ^H834 they acted ^H6213 for Me,” declares ^H5002 Lord ^H136 Yahweh ^H3068.

21 “On that day ^H3117 I will make a horn ^H7161 sprout ^H6779 for the house ^H1004 of Israel ^H3478, and I will [fn]open ^H5414 H6610 your mouth ^H6310 in their midst ^H8432. Then they will know ^H3045 that I am Yahweh ^H3068.”
