Yahweh Will Return the Fortunes of His People

1 The word ^H1697 which ^H834 came ^H1961 to Jeremiah ^H3414 from Yahweh ^H3068, saying ^H559,

2 “Thus ^H3541 says ^H559 Yahweh ^H3068, the God ^H430 of Israel ^H3478, ‘Write ^H3789 all ^H3605 the words ^H1697 which ^H834 I have spoken ^H1696 to you in a book ^H5612. 3 For behold ^H2009, days ^H3117 are coming ^H935,’ declares ^H5002 Yahweh ^H3068, ‘when I will [fn]return ^H7725 the [fn]fortunes ^H7622 of My people ^H5971 Israel ^H3478 and Judah ^H3063.’ Yahweh ^H3068 says ^H559, ‘I will also cause ^H7725 them to return ^H7725 to the land ^H776 that I gave ^H5414 to their fathers ^H1, and they shall possess ^H3423 it.’”

4 Now these ^H428 are the words ^H1697 which ^H834 Yahweh ^H3068 spoke ^H1696 concerning ^H413 Israel ^H3478 and concerning ^H413 Judah ^H3063:

5 “For thus ^H3541 says ^H559 Yahweh ^H3068,

‘We have heard ^H8085 a sound ^H6963 of trembling ^H2731,

Of dread ^H6343, and there ^H369 is ^H369 no ^H369 peace ^H7965.

6 ‘Ask ^H7592 now ^H4994, and see ^H7200

If ^H518 a male ^H2145 can give ^H3205 birth ^H3205.

Why ^H4069 do I see ^H7200 every ^H3605 man ^H1397

With his hands ^H3027 on his loins ^H2504, as a woman in ^H3205 childbirth ^H3205?

And why have all ^H3605 faces ^H6440 turned ^H2015 pale ^H3420?

7 ‘Alas ^H1945! For that day ^H3117 is great ^H1419,

There ^H369 is ^H369 none ^H369 like ^H3644 it;

And it is the time ^H6256 of Jacob’s ^H3290 distress ^H6869,

But he will be saved ^H3467 from it.

8 ‘And it will be ^H1961 in that day ^H3117,’ declares ^H5002 Yahweh ^H3068 of hosts ^H6635, ‘that I will break ^H7665 his yoke ^H5923 from off ^H5921 your neck ^H6677 and will tear ^H5423 off ^H5423 your bonds ^H4147; and strangers ^H2114 will no ^H3808 longer ^H5750 make ^H5647 [fn]them their slaves ^H5647. 9 But they shall be a slave ^H5647 to Yahweh ^H3068 their God ^H430 and David ^H1732 their king ^H4428, whom ^H834 I will raise ^H6965 up ^H6965 for them.

10 ‘Fear ^H3372 not, O Jacob ^H3290 My [fn]servant ^H5650,’ declares ^H5002 Yahweh ^H3068,

‘And do not be dismayed ^H2865, O Israel ^H3478;

For behold ^H2009, I will save ^H3467 you from afar ^H7350

And your seed ^H2233 from the land ^H776 of their captivity ^H7628.

And Jacob ^H3290 will return ^H7725 and will be ^H8252 quiet ^H8252 and at ease ^H7599,

And no ^H369 one ^H369 will make ^H2729 him tremble ^H2729.

11 ‘For I am with you,’ declares ^H5002 Yahweh ^H3068, ‘to save ^H3467 you;

For I will make ^H6213 a complete ^H3617 destruction ^H3617 of all ^H3605 the nations ^H1471 where ^H834 H8033 I have scattered ^H6327 you,

Only ^H389 I will not make ^H6213 a complete ^H3617 destruction ^H3617 of you.

But I will chasten ^H3256 you justly ^H4941

And will by ^H5352 no ^H3808 means ^H5352 leave ^H5352 you unpunished ^H5352.’

12 “For thus ^H3541 says ^H559 Yahweh ^H3068,

‘Your injury ^H7667 is incurable ^H605,

And your wound ^H4347 is desperately ^H2470 sick ^H2470.

13 ‘There ^H369 is ^H369 no ^H369 one ^H369 to plead ^H1777 your cause ^H1779;

No healing ^H7499 for your sore ^H4205,

No ^H369 recovery ^H8585 for you.

14 ‘All ^H3605 your lovers ^H157 have forgotten ^H7911 you;

They do not seek ^H1875 you;

For I have [fn]wounded ^H5221 you with the wound ^H4347 of an enemy ^H340,

With the punishment ^H4148 of a cruel ^H394 one ^H394,

Because ^H5921 your iniquity ^H5771 is numerous ^H7230

And your sins ^H2403 are ^H6105 mighty ^H6105.

15 ‘Why ^H4100 do you cry ^H2199 out ^H2199 over ^H5921 your injury ^H7667?

Your pain ^H4341 is incurable ^H605.

Because ^H5921 your iniquity ^H5771 is numerous ^H7230

And your sins ^H2403 are ^H6105 mighty ^H6105,

I have done ^H6213 these ^H428 things ^H428 to you.

16 ‘Therefore ^H3651 all ^H3605 who devour ^H398 you will be devoured ^H398;

And all ^H3605 your adversaries ^H6862, every ^H3605 one ^H3605 of them, will go ^H1980 into captivity ^H7628;

And those who take ^H8155 you as spoil ^H8155 will be spoil ^H4933,

And all ^H3605 who plunder ^H962 you I will give ^H5414 as plunder ^H957.

17 ‘For I will [fn]restore ^H5927 you to [fn]health ^H724,

And I will heal ^H7495 you of your wounds ^H4347,’ declares ^H5002 Yahweh ^H3068,

‘Because ^H3588 they have called ^H7121 you a banished ^H5080 one, saying:

“It is Zion ^H6726; no ^H369 one ^H369 is seeking ^H1875 her.”’

18 “Thus ^H3541 says ^H559 Yahweh ^H3068,

‘Behold ^H2009, I will [fn]return ^H7725 the [fn]fortunes ^H7622 of the tents ^H168 of Jacob ^H3290

And have ^H7355 compassion ^H7355 on ^H7355 his dwelling ^H4908 places ^H4908;

And the city ^H5892 will be rebuilt ^H1129 on its ruin ^H8510,

And the palace ^H759 will sit ^H3427 on its just ^H4941 place ^H4941.

19 ‘From them will come ^H3318 forth ^H3318 thanksgiving ^H8426

And the voice ^H6963 of those who [fn]celebrate ^H7832;

And I will multiply ^H7235 them, and they will not decrease ^H4591;

I will also honor ^H3513 them, and they will not be insignificant ^H6819.

20 ‘[fn]Their children ^H1121 also will be as formerly ^H6924,

And [fn]their congregation ^H5712 shall be established ^H3559 before ^H6440 Me;

And I will punish ^H6485 all ^H3605 [fn]their oppressors ^H3905.

21 ‘And [fn]their mighty ^H117 one shall be one of them,

And [fn]their ruler ^H4910 shall come ^H3318 forth ^H3318 from [fn]their midst ^H7130;

And I will bring ^H7126 Him near ^H7126, and He shall approach ^H5066 Me;

For who ^H4310 would dare to give ^H6148 his heart ^H3820 as ^H6148 security ^H6148 to approach ^H5066 Me?’ declares ^H5002 Yahweh ^H3068.

22 ‘You shall be My people ^H5971,

And I will be your God ^H430.’”

23 Behold ^H2009, the storm ^H5591 of Yahweh ^H3068!

Wrath ^H2534 has gone ^H3318 forth ^H3318,

A [fn]sweeping ^H1641 storm ^H5591;

It will burst ^H2342 on the head ^H7218 of the wicked ^H7563.

24 The burning ^H2740 anger ^H639 of Yahweh ^H3068 will not turn ^H7725 back ^H7725

Until ^H5704 He has done ^H6213 and until ^H5704 He has established ^H6965

The intent ^H4209 of His heart ^H3820;

In the last ^H319 days ^H3117 you will understand ^H995 this.
